A lot of anime viewers will be generally interested in Japanese culture and want to learn more about it anyway. Though I don't think anime itself is the best way to do that or the most accurate representation...

If they really plan to just reair Bebop, much less do a marathon of it on April Fool's, it's fucking pathetic. They realize what damage the Rick & Morty marathon did right? I pretty much don't have to watch any of the ASA dead horses again any time soon thanks to how much they were run into the ground, a bad habit Demarco was all too willing to continue. What made things even worse though was when he tried to sell Samurai Champloo as a "premiere" when Fujiko Mine was shockingly unable to pass S&P.

I thought the songs were picked based on what the author was listening to when he wrote those arcs. I am surprised the show moved through time periods as fast as it did. Some eras were skipped over which could have been fun to see. And since the current arc is already in the 80s and I know there's tons more after this, I'm not sure how the series will progress. Future arcs would assuredly take place after the time they were written, and would be beyond even our current "present day" eventually.

But they don't even seem believable.
