  1. You throw in a few still shots of mostly characters just talking and it makes it feel at least somewhat new for minimal effort.
  2. To give animators a break from the horrendous schedule of having to put out a new episode of this crap every single week. Otherwise they die at their desks.
  3. Whats worse than Super? A Super recap episode. Bye ratings!
  4. Do fine in the ratings like the last few weeks? =P
  5. I like the first two seasons. In fact in the HxH thread last week I said that SAO did the "going inside a mmo" thing better than the Greed Island arc was currently doing. But Ordinal Scale is bad, read the two reviews I posted if you don't mind spoiling the "plot." It's basically filler like any Shonen movie. Nothing that happens there effects anything or will be mentioned ever again most likely. It feels like watching a short filler arc.
  6. I think we all know which franchise is superior in this genre.
  7. I don't watch Naruto so no idea there. But if you want to check out these 2 spoiler laden reviews that tear it a new one.
  8. You mean the bootleg copy of Ordinal Scale that Seinfeld shot because Kramer's friend pulled a gun on him wasn't good enough for you? Lower your standards a bit!
  9. It doesn't. It's pure filler and it's bad..... really bad. It also makes no sense at all.
  10. Hey GATE has Rory Mercury. Girls would probably dig Worldend. And then there's always Tanya. She's sort of a girl.
  11. Yeah I kind of figured they'd go that route. Not much else they can do. Other than having them both die which fans won't stand for, or having Goku turn evil which fans also would never go for.
  12. You forgot the big one. Making a terrible deal for 200 episodes of Super and making it the flagship show of Toonami. And isn't it weird how Netflix wasn't able to get Super?
  13. Until they catch a guy driving a tank I'm not interested.
  14. Logically, since Toonami's highest demo is young men, you figure College Football would have to have some slight effect.
  15. But why would you air more Jojo? It doesn't get good ratings. Why would you air more HxH? They already stuck it behind TG, they don't have any confidence in it. Is anyone really clamoring for new episodes of Outlaw Star? FLCL was a zany out of nowhere cult hit that captured lightning in a bottle, but are they going to be able to replicate that with part 2 and 3? Now that it's established that Lupin is a ratings turkey, would you air more Lupin? Toonami makes bad decisions. They chose to get Super and make whatever wacko deal they made with them. They chose Jojo despite the first two seasons bombing, and now the third is bombing. They knew Lupin wasn't going to get good ratings so they stuck it at the back of the block, and even for that slot it under performs. They chose to get more Gundam despite Unicorn bombing and IBO having horrible viewer retention. They had years to do quality control to actually watch TG and prevent that from airing. You can't blame Netflix and LIVE PD for Toonami losing almost half its viewers in a year.
  16. If you want to see not being able to write stakes, wait till you see Ordinal Scale.
  17. Super managed to retain worse than Jojo yet again. Ouch. Running GITS just because a terrible live action movie was coming out was probably a mistake from looking at those numbers. I'm sure they never expected Lupin to do well, but that's still pretty awful.
  18. Hah maybe, but with absolutely zero stakes. And seeing the already OP Kirito get the most powerful weapon in the game really cheesed a lot of people off. It's literally the only arc where they could have all logged out and nothing bad would have happened.
  19. If she liked the first season she'll probably like the second. The mothers rosario plot line is divisive. Some people feel it corrects a lot of flaws that SAO has and gives badly needed character development to Asuna. The Excalibur arc is by far the worst and totally pointless.
  20. DW didn't actually do well. People just think it did because the block was way higher back then. 12:00 AM Dragon Ball Z Kai 1,482,000 12:30 AM Dimension W 1,160,000 That was DW's final episode. 78 percent retention. It was between 78 and 85 for just about every episode. Basically everything after Kai retains about the same, except for OPM which actually beat Kai on some nights.
  21. I'm not sure if it means anything but the live action Jojo bombed hard in Japan. Gintama did great though. Japan Box Office: "Gintama" Tops 3 Billion Yen in 30 Days "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" super-quickly disappeared from the top 10 "Meanwhile, Takashi Miike's box-office disappointment JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Chapter I super-quickly disappeared from the top 10 in its second weekend of release, dropping from the debut weekend's 5th to 11th. From this dismal failure, we probably can't expect to see "Chapter II." http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2017/08/15-1/japan-box-office-gintama-tops-3-billion-yen-in-30-days
  22. You're grasping at straws there! No one cares if its a test dub =P Jojo doesn't do well because it's Jojo. It has no mainstream appeal, people just get tricked into thinking it does because of memes. Much like Lupin, it's anime that appeals to anime fans only. It's currently my favorite show on the block ..... but the first two parts got bad ratings, and there was no reason to expect anything else from part 3. And like TG the anime is from 2014. Ratings might be a bit better if it was only a year old, but 3 years old is pushing it. And Outlaw Star is nice, but again.... you're not going to bring in ratings with old anime you put on at the graveyard spot. Also Gundam = ratings poison. I'm sure it would do great if you were airing it in Japan.
  23. Fairytail is from 2009. It's always been requested and they always ignored it. I don't see that changing. They're currently missing the boat on Gate and Overlord which both have recent dubs out. Overlord has a second season coming. Tanya the evil was simuldubbed, they missed it. No game No life is dubbed, has a movie out, and probably a second season soon. DanMachi is dubbed now. Assassination classroom is dubbed. If they were willing to go trashy, Highschool DXD, Freezing and High school of the dead are all dubbed and would definitely get better ratings than TG. And they somehow missed out on another top request, Mob Psycho. Their best bet is to keep their ears to the ground and somehow get Re Zero and Konosuba when they get dubbed finally.
  24. OPM did great, and the dub trailed the sub by almost a full year. So it doesn't even need to be a simuldub. Just new and appealing to mainstream viewers. Worldend and Akashic were two of the most popular titles from last season. Both had simuldubs. Toonami showed no evidence of knowing that either one of these anime exist. They don't have the ultra popularity of something like MHA so a deal with them getting aired on TV and getting more exposure would probably work out quite well for them.
