Most of the food in a “fine dining” restaurant is pretty much the SAME FUCKING QUALITY AND BRAND as the food you get in a chain restaurant. Difference is that the high end restaurant cooks your food from scratch.....with cooks that usually have records as big as the menu.

Our FC (fulfillment center) has fans and AC, but they still treat us like fucking cattle. We have to keep up a certain rate. They constantly monitor it. Constantly.

I’m a packer. 12 hour shifts. Picking is easy as shit in our building. The shelving comes to you via robots. You barely move. Packing is a bitch. Standing all day, barely moving your feet, and when you do, you fucking get yelled at for not being at your station packing. 😐 Make rate. No music. No sounds. No talking. No smiles. Rather be in the dock. Dock is AMAZING. You either: Take shit off the truck and put them on pallets, or put shit from pallets on the truck, or put shit on or off the truck onto a belt. No rate. No managing/micromanaging. Music is playing. You move the whole time. Light work for 12 hours.

You’re not wrong. The higher up I look at people in my building, the less they interact with other people/humans. Fuck, just my Process Assistants (basically shift leads/supervisors) don’t even bother looking at us. They just stare at their computers with algorithms and productivity shit on walls and move us to keep with their flow numbers and rate.

Nope. We don't see a difference. We have to keep up with rate, so we have to pack an order fast, regardless of priority. If you're doing an Amazon Now order, you're probably going to get it routed directly to a driver after we pack it, rather than other parts of the building.

I don’t know. As an AFE, you don’t get to see who your package goes to. The SLAM (Shipping Label Application Machine) labels it before it goes to the dock and gets loaded. When we get an order, we only see the assigned order number, box size, and items in the order. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if I filled my own order before. I highly doubt it, but it’s possible. I HAVE put my own order on a truck before when I was at the dock.

Fuck Jeff Beezos. He’s a dick. He doesn’t know anything about how employees operate his company. He basically is a modern day plantation owner. He’s doesn’t see us as people, but commodities to make more money. Hopefully, you die while on the job, so they aren’t liable. $1 TRILLION war chest, and you can’t bother/afford to pay taxes, nor give your employees some extra time off or benefits. But, you’ve got money to build ANOTHER HQ and 5 fulfillment centers? Also, every decision he makes to be “customer centric” in the company screws us completely. The level of indoctrination of the higher ups is fascinating. It is pure on robotics. Like....they trust the robots and algorithms more than the people. Also, making everything about productivity, ironically, kills productivity.
