The criteria for fits Toonami is “has action”, and even then, they break this rule any time it’s convenient like they did with Common Side Effects. Sentai has plenty of that, every season. So that’s not a good excuse. Plus, I’m sure the audience would have preferred ANYTHING over what we had to suffer through Jan-mid May. We heard it right from Demarco, they just sit around and ask for Bleach over and over again till they get it. If they aren’t getting those shows, they just don’t bother.

If you actually do want to throw one out they might answer, Demarco confirmed in this interview that Sentai is their go to dub studio for all their originals, so why do they not air shows out of the Sentai catalog as well? That seems like it should be easy synergy that they aren’t utilizing. And for a few they probably won’t answer. 1. What is the status between Crunchyroll and Toonami? The block has not aired a new show from them since the start of 2021, and the last sequel from them was from 2023. Toei owned shows make it on, but nothing else. Does Crunchyroll no longer license shows to AS? If you need a follow up trump card to a non answer, point out that AXS was able to secure MHA. So Crunchyroll will license shows, but not to Toonami. 2. Why was Toonami allowed to go nearly 6 straight months without any new acquired content in 2025? Should the audience expect further long stretches of stall schedules when first choice shows cannot be secured?

So this has been bugging me, sometimes AS runs a generic promo for Lazarus, rather than the episode specific one. It goes something like, “this team could save the world, if they could stop trying to kill each other first”. But like, not one time in this entire series have I felt anyone on the team held any animosity towards the others. Worst was Axel being a little salty about being caught, but he was cool with the crew almost immediately. Really, all of them get along quite well. Did AS even watch their own show?

99.9% chance it’s gonna be Daima. No originals are ready, we would have heard something by now. Get Jiro was shown to still be in the production stages at Annecy, and we haven’t heard a thing about Rooster Fighter or MAWS S3 since their original announcements. And I don’t think there are any acquired titles they would place above a Dragonball show. So most likely scenario is our current lineup slides up 30 minutes, and Lazarus reruns get parked at 3am.

Whoever was in charge of action direction for this show should never be employed again. First off, we have Axel fall at LEAST ten stories off a bridge, onto a moving tanker trucker, that judging by the interior shot, was doing at least 70-80mph. Our protagonist doesn’t even drop an “oof” from this bone shattering impact, he just rolls it off. Then, our assassin character apparently input the cheat code for the infinite grenade jacket. But that’s not the best part. After knocking Axel into another (easily fatal but nowhere near as silly as the first) fall, somehow our assassin gets down, gets on the boat, gets IN the boat, all in the time it took Axel to stand back up. I hope whatever meager check Watanabe got from AS was worth this major stain on his career. And we ain’t even done yet.

They didn’t. Tax write offs only affect the US market. So a shows reruns can still persist on in non US markets while being written off. In order to do a reboot, they would have to fully pay off the tax break they got on the show in the mid 00s. If they bought it back, it would be available to CN (or let’s be real, AS would get it just like Jack) to air and stream. Not saying it’s impossible, but I think this article is oversimplifying things a little and a reboot wasn’t as close as they are implying it was.

I don’t care about taking the 5th off, but I hope we don’t have to do another marathon for the second half of Lazarus.

Yamaji did have that weird dual eye that I don’t believe was ever touched on beyond revealing he had it. I suppose that could be an ayy lmao pivot. I feel like a lot of the hate towards the gear is centered on it being where most of the mediocre CGI is found, rather than the concept of the gear itself. We went from cool 2d fights to CGI sloppa. If the gear was less CGI (no way some of those parts like the fade guys snakes could have been 2d) then the hate wouldn’t be nearly as strong.

Even if it did, the creator is so obtuse about how his story is told, it only would have covered the third game, which is regarded as filler by fans. Probably would have caused some resentment towards the series. I didn’t say anything about the block itself, just the originals. Which have been embarrassing failure after failure and a clear reason why acquired content has decreased. The only one of which I ever see any positive acclaim for is Shenmue, which just repurposed the game story into an anime. Not many areas to diverge and mess that up. If they stop making originals and go back to just licensing shows, that will be wonderful. I really thought Lazarus might have been able to break the curse, but it gets worse every week.

Well, Rewind had a lot of mismanagement that led to its failure, primarily the lack of interest in old anime. The Saturday block is just hard to relocate. It can’t be early due to (some) of its content. Dragonball Diaper would be fine at 5pm, Bleach not so much. And we know AS would never dream of giving up primetime hours anywhere, so it would have to go somewhere post midnight. Sunday-Thursday is a bust due to people working. Not gonna get people staying up till 3am when they gotta be up at 6am. That really only leaves Friday at midnight as an alternative. Maybe it could work but it would take months for people to form new habits and actually tune in regularly. Luckily I don’t see them landing UFC, so this is likely just a hypothetical scenario we never have to actually worry about.
