The traditional vampire was conceived in a time when people had a limited understanding of atomic radiation and when people had limited weaponry. Sure, a stake through the heart, sunlight, or even garlic may be lethal to a vampire, but can we really believe that Godzilla couldn't kill Dracula with his atomic breath? It's concentrated heat as well, and not just radiation.

If you've never played Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, the titular main antagonist of the game is capable of speech, but only knows how to say "STARS." "STARS" is in reference to S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service), a law-enforcement task force whose operatives Nemesis actively hunts down. That's what it was created to do. He typically says "STARS" when he's found a member of the task force while he tries to kill them.
