it ties in quite a bit more with the established Canon than GT did but it's still not 100% Canon Toriyama's input isn't absolute, he actually just writes a generic outline for each arc and Toei's writers fill in everything else, meanwhile a Fan writes the manga adaption (literally he was just a DBZ Doujin writer who Shogakuan hired because he could mimmick Toriyama's style perfectly) it also disobeys established Canon from DB and DBZ at multiple points including

I honestly feel like Riverdale's writing staff were trying to write a horrible show highlights of the Pilot script (which didn't make it into the final episode) included Kevin (who is I assume 15 since he's 15 in the comics) trying to use Grindr to hook up with adult men, then deciding to go "watch gay porn with Betty" when it didn't work out and apparently there was a leak early on that implied Archie killed somebody, which also never happened interestingly enough there was supposedly a scrapped Storyline where Kevin was closeted because his dad was Homophobic and THAT'S why his Dynamic with Veronica was semi-romantic in the final show, they scrapped the closet storyline but didn't re-write any of the other elements of said storyline
