Gundam Unicorn on Toonami this January... discuss.
CaptainStarwind replied to Blatch's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Is it really that bad, or is it just bland and unoriginal? Because I can do bland and unoriginal. I sat through Kekkaishi. -

Gundam Unicorn on Toonami this January... discuss.

I'm all up for another Gundam. Haven't watched Unicorn, but I've heard good things about it, so bring in on! -
Has Tite Kubo been blacklisted from the manga industry?
CaptainStarwind replied to ben0119's topic in Anime & Manga
I doubt it. It seems everybody has moved on to other shows now. Besides, wasn't the Bleach anime cancelled for low ratings? Unless it's popularity skyrocketed, I don't think we'll see a Bleach anime again. -
That's what I've heard as well. Personally I think part of it stemmed from him also not being the starter at the beginning of the season, but who knows? Hopefully he'll be second string or traded or something for next year.

Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier
CaptainStarwind replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I didn't really like the old ED at first, but it did grow on me after a while. -
Yeah I'm sure there wasn't too much (the pixelations and scene cuts were most of what I was looking for), but it still bugs me. I like to have Toonami rips for shows that I like. If I can't find them then I try and make it myself, hence me looking for an edit list.

And I have the drawing ability of a Parkinson's patient during an earthquake, so it all evens out. I can draw carbon chains, though. Got that shit DOWN. -
...I'd say that at least the 49ers aren't worse than the Browns, if I wasn't fully convinced the Browns are no longer an NFL team.

This might seem like an odd question but did anybody here keep a list of all the edits made when Black Lagoon aired on Toonami, or recorded the series itself? My DVR airing of the series failed after the first couple of episodes. I was in contact with RogerSmith2004 to get his copies of Black Lagoon but he hasn't been getting back to me, so I was looking to try and get an edit list of the series, at the very least.

I was decent at Calculus like 3 years ago, but I never need to use it. Algebra is the most I need. -

Because you're being heavily oppressed by the bourgeoisie. In lieu of that, allow me to post some images expressing my dislike of calculus: -
Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier
CaptainStarwind replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Continued from my earlier post: Iron-Blooded Orphans: I think this is the show that has interested me the most on the block in the past few months. Moreso than JoJo, even moreso than OPM. Admittedly I can defintely see why some think it's boring, but I don't really think it is. Sure, there may not be a mecha battle in every episode, but the show does a good job on making the interactions between the characters believable, and making me actually care about what happens to the characters. As for the last episode, the older blonde lady annoys me. I know she probably means well, but she just gets on my nerves. It's really satisfying to see her not be able to accomplish anything. Carta's (I guess) death probably should have had more of an impact on me, but I didn't really know her well enough to care too much. It was sad that it seemed she was being controlled, though, so I'll give her that. Hunter X Hunter: This is another show that I'm enjoying so far. Admittedly, HxH isn't as typical as other shonens, like DBZ or Naruto. The beginning was a bit slow, and I thought that the Hunter exams went on for a little too long, but I'm starting to see more action happening in the show. This battle arena arc that just started is pretty good. I like the idea of Nen, and honestly I hope they use more of it. It seems like the last episode ended on the cusp of a good fight about to happen, so here's hoping that a good fight begins next episode. -
Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier
CaptainStarwind replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I've been REALLY behind on Toonami (like One-Punch Man marathon behind) and only finally got caught up this week. DBZ Kai: Goku is dead again, so wonderful. I'm calling bullshit on that part of Cell's brain not surviving the explosion, since that doesn't seem scientifically accurate. Of course, this being a series where time travel is possible and an alien species gets stronger by beating them to near death, I figure scientific accuracy isn't exactly what DBZ Kai is going for. I stand by the claim that the Dragon Ball manga and DBZ should have ended with the Cell saga, especially since it seems set up to do so. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: So my friend heavily pushed for me to watch this show and said it's insane. I haven't really seen too much of that so far, but whether it be this arc or a lack of interest has yet to be determined. He DID say that the arc after this one gets a lot crazier, so I'll believe him and continue to watch. That's not to say I don't enjoy what I've been watching so far, just that it hasn't lived up to what it was built up to be, well not yet at least. I enjoyed how the one night pretty much just said "Fuck honor" and just wants to attack and kill. Is that the second time I've seen someone piss themselves in JoJo, or am I thinking of another show that recently had urinary incontinence? The episode was pretty good, and I can't wait to see what happens next week. Next two reviews will come later today. -
This subforum is kinda dead.... So yeah. I'm a college senior working towards getting my Ph.D in Chemistry. Ask me stuff if you want. Or not. I really don't care.

Yeah I can't really argue with that. I wish they would have kept Alex Smith (and I'm sure they wish that too), but even then I'm not too sure of how well he would have done.

"Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!" "You're telling me you built a TIME MACHINE... out of a DeLorean?" "I did not hit her it's not true it's bullshit I did not hit her I did NAHHHT... oh hai Mark."

Possible Season 2 of Panty and Stocking? Gainax is teasing it.
CaptainStarwind replied to Jman's topic in Anime & Manga
Perhaps so, but I recall DeMarco saying at the time that they weren't interested in PSG, so I'd assume cost didn't factor into their decision. Admittedly, that was 4 years ago, so if someone wants to dig through his tweets and the tumblr to find that post, be my guest. -
Why must the 49ers continue to disappoint me?

Ah, I see. Well then yes, that's what she said. Right before getting attacked by the Izoku.

My final thoughts on Intruder III: -It shouldn't have been named Intruder III to begin with. It really didn't seem like something to attach the Intruder name to, especially given that the original Intruder was a huge event that introduced a new TOM model, while Intruder II was a huge event that led to a massive change in setting for the block. This event was a far smaller scale and seems far more low key than either or the previous Intruders. In all honesty I agree that they should retire the Intruder TIE series after this one. If they plan to make TIEs annual, then they should focus on newer ones. -The overall story for Intruder III was good, though, like I said above, set on a bit lower scale than the other Intruders. I didn't really find problems with it. -I like that SARA has a full body form again. I never really liked her as just a computer. That being said, SARA now being fairy sized will take some getting used to. I know people see her like Navi, but I can't help but see her as Yui from SAO. I keep imagining that she's going to start calling TOM "Daddy", which puts images into my head that thankfully do not seem to exist on the internet at this time, but I'm sure will be coming in the near future. It will take some time to get used to her size, but I'm really glad that SARA has a figure again. -The Vindication spaceship is fucking awesome. It honestly never felt just like Toonami to me with them using the Shogo planet as a base: Toonami was always Toonami to me when they were in space. While admittedly, it seems like a bit of a waste to use the planet for less than a year then immediately go back into space, it feels better with Toonami in space. The ship itself looks incredible. With the size of it, I hope we see some more of the ship for video games and special events. -The worm seems cool for now. Hopefully they can do something with it. -The new look for the block is probably the best look yet. The last couple of looks (the "Retro" look and the "Planet" look) didn't really feel like Toonami to me, but this one definitely does. It's quite different from what we've got before, and I'm excited to see them use it more.

I'd rather slice my own arm open than have anything to do with Astral Ocean ever happening again.

Mixed feelings about this so far. The trailer looks stylish, but the story it presented seems like generic Hollywood schlock. I hope that the trailer is just a bad trailer, but given the track record of anime films in Hollywood, I have my doubts. I really don't think whitewashing is a main concern for this movie. For something like Akira, or The Last Airbender, yeah, I understand how that could be considered a problem, but with something like Ghost in the Shell I don't think it matters as much. Besides, the Major is full prosthetic, so she can have pretty much any appearance she chooses.
-
Others put it well: I'm not sure how I feel about this. I enjoyed the first two seasons enough, and I really don't think it needs a continuation. But crazier things have happened. We'll see how it goes.

Toonami Pre-Flight Discussion Thread
CaptainStarwind replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Another comic? God, I'm still sore after they lied about what the last one was gonna be about. I'm sure they'll say this one is gonna be about how TOM gets another new body, and it'll end up being about Moltar or something.
