What grade of nitric acid? I'm assuming off the top of my head that you mean 70%, since that's lab standard grade, but you also have fuming nitric acid which is 90%. Nitric acid is nasty stuff. I worked my sophomore year on a nitration mechanism involving nitric acid and sulfuric acid and it wasn't fun.

I didn't comment on your second block of text because we were talking about Rei being Luke's daughter. I just picked the relevant stuff. I also wouldn't have had much to comment on the second part, since I agree that it's likely that she's just an abandoned girl. Like I said before about Finn, I heard that over a year ago at this point. I could just be misremembering fan speculation for all I know.

I'd imagine it would be probably 24 or 25 episodes. If they were only planning to do a 12 episode season, it probably would have been released sooner.

And the sad part is that it wouldn't make the movie any better, even if they did cast an Asian actress as the lead. Maybe the action will be good, at least?

Oh yay! One bloated, long running series ends just in time to watch another probably bloated, long running series! Can't wait for Toonami to pick it up!

Dragon Ball Episode 2

Unfortunately that's the way that work for them. No one cares about the story anymore, just the action or the sex. Why have nuance and subtlety in a story when they can just give it a standard, cliche plot that gives way to lots of action sequences? Besides, not really anyone besides fans of anime (or of at least GITS) is going to care much. Mainstreamers won't give a shit about the plot; they'll go to see it regardless.

Well the answer is obvious then....

One Piece isn't worthy of cancelling, especially when they would probably just replace it with Cowboy Bebop in HD. I'm hoping for the 8 PM DBS to become a rerun. I don't know how much that will help Toonami, but it's worth a shot. I guess it goes to show that even most of the popularity for Dragon Ball Z was simply from nostalgia.

Shuffle the Complete Series came in today, so I'll add that. I might take a look again this weekend and see if anything good is available. I've been looking to buy Escaflowne for a while so this might be the time.

That might have done it. Of course it shouldn't matter much. We all know that ratings don't really mean a whole lot to the Toonami crew, so this shouldn't be something to be bothered about.

The franchise hasn't put out anything worth caring about in years. I think Jman is partially correct when he says that Tenchi's US popularity was due to unique circumstances. This IS an appeal to the series, however, so I can't give it all to that. But I haven't had that appeal for anything put out recently.

The main problem I have with this is that it seems they're going to make all the main characters be related to somebody important from the Original Trilogy. Kylo Ren is already known to be Han and Leia's kid. I also thought I heard J.J. Abrams say that Finn is going to be related to OT characters, too, though admittedly this was nearly a year ago. If Rei turns out to be related to Luke or Obi-Wan, then the sequel trilogy just becomes the story of the OT character's kids. It makes it seem like the only people in the universe that matter come from one or a couple bloodlines, which is something that I don't particularly like to see in movies. Really, if she ends up related to the main cast, the only way I would accept it, albeit begrudgingly, is if she was Leia's kid. That would make the dynamic between her and Kylo Ren a bit more interesting, being that they're siblings, and would remind a lot more of the hardcore fans of Jacen and Jaina Solo from the original expanded universe.
