  1. That's going back a long time, almost 5 years, but I do believe that's true! The "Lucky 7's" turned out not to be, and while Thundercats 2011 would eventually crack a million a few times at 1 AM, it would first languish at 2:30 AM for like a month! These days it seems like the Midnight Hour is OK to be under a million as long as that doesn't happen to the 11 AM hour. But if Stardust Crusaders is destined to replace Battle Tendency, hopefully those episodes will do what Battle Tendency couldn't (so far) and crack a million, and that will spill over into Tokyo Ghoul (and maybe even beyond!)
  2. Not over a million, but a 0.6 18-34 in that timeslot has to be considered decent these days. Samurai Jack shed 0.02 in Adults 18-49 but everything else gained over last week. Even Gundam Unicorn at 2 AM continued its slow but steady upswing out of its valley 2 weeks ago, even though it was an hour later! A 0.53 18-34 at 2 AM is pretty damn good! Unfortunately, it's still a far cry from what these shows were doing 3-4 weeks ago when Family Guy was at 11 PM instead of Samurai Jack, (let alone what the block was doing 1 or 2 years ago), but as long as things continue to swing upward, it's a win in my book!
  3. I don't remember that, because of course I only watched it once, and on the same night Space Dandy Season 2 premiered, but you might be right.
  4. As of 12:30 AM tonight (3/27/17), it's been replaced by the Cleveland Show. Well, that was fun while it lasted! And I managed to get 13 of the episodes on my DVR during its very limited 3-week run!
  5. Well, it was once hailed as one of the most reliable sources for information on anime! But yeah, it has gotten quite a bit less reliable in recent years!
  6. This is true, but we got Gundam Unicorn episodes playing right now that were dubbed even longer ago than that! The newest part of those episodes is probably the narrator, since I don't believe the OVAs contained any narration. Besides, I really don't believe that going from an episode that was recorded in 2014 to one that was recorded in 2017 would be all THAT jarring! Gundam Unicorn, like Hellsing Ultimate, has a few episodes each recorded in different years, and they don't seem to sound all that different! The transition from Hellsing Ultimate 4 (dubbed in 2008) to 5 (dubbed in 2012) was actually 4 years, believe it or not! Was it really all that noticeable in the Toonami broadcast? The same would be true of JoJo going from the last episode of the test dub (3) to the first "new" episode (4). In fact, the transition would be much shorter (not quite 3 years), so it would probably be even less noticeable. So I believe there will be no need to redub the test dub episodes as long as they use the same voice actors!
  7. I guess Anime News Network missed a few appearances, then! In other news, I want to try to do an Unevenedge rewatch of Battle Tendency during the month of April (while Adult Swim is still streaming the episodes) leading up to the season finale on April 22nd! It would be a thorough examination of each episode, capturing the Japanese on-screen action text and translating it!
  8. No, I meant his appearance at Anime Boston isn't part of the panel or other events dealing with JoJo, he's just also there. If it's a panel featuring him, Seitz, and JoJo's Japanese director, that would be something to do with JoJo...
  9. You mean do I think they'll be redubbed different from the test dub on Crunchyroll? I suppose so, even if they use the same voice actors. But I really don't see why they wouldn't just use the test dubs; those are pretty good! Maybe we get a different narrator?
  10. So nothing to do with JoJo? Well alrighty then.
  11. What the hell is with these new ranks, and how high was the person who came up with them!? I don't even know what I am anymore!! ::spin::
  12. What the hell ELSE is coming out this weekend? NOTHING that I can see! Gotta hand it to them, they picked a GOOD weekend to premiere it! I doubt CHiPs or Life will beat it, and Beauty and the Beast is an uncertainty in its 3rd week! Ditto for Power Rangers in its 2nd. Therefore, I predict it will debut at #1 but on an otherwise weak box office weekend!
  13. In Gundam, maybe. In JoJo, he's only been the policeman that "New York's" JoJo (the current one) encounters in Episode 10...
  14. Probably wouldn't be the next few episodes of the Battle Tendency dub, since they're not dub premieres. Remember, Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency were released by Warner almost a year before the first episode of JoJo premiered on Toonami! Also, JYB gets recast as someone new in Stardust Crusaders!? Interesting, because he's not in Battle Tendency!
  15. While I can applaud Adult Swim/Toonami for streaming GITS the week before the movie comes out, they're doing two head-scratchingly dumb things: [*]Streaming 2nd Gig instead of the first season, and [*]Streaming the old "shit-D" version of it instead of the new HD version! The latter problem also plagues the weekend Toonami stream, BTW. Well, check it out with your phone if you dare. I'd say your laptop, but trust me, it looks like shit!
  16. Glad I finally got to see this one all the way through. Only caught Piccolo's concede live. Krillin beat Pintar in ONE PUUUUUUUUUNCH! Then slapped him around and kicked his ass out of the ring!
  17. I thought maybe the 8 PM airing had used the English version of the ED, but it turns out it didn't. It did, however, contain topicals for Samurai Jack and Sand Whale & Me later on that night!
  18. FINALLY getting to see this one all the way through--let's see whatcha got, S5 E3 AKA #55 AKA "XCIV" -- "94" Oh man, that was awesome! It seems like Ashi survived, but how about the other two? Being thrown into snowdrifts from high places isn't necessarily fatal. The snow CAN break a fall, which I think is what they're going for here. And of course Jack survived, as we know from the topical!
  19. Why would they premiere the first episode of Stardust at Anime Boston? Besides, that wouldn't exactly be a premiere since it looks like they'll be using those test dubs for the first 3 episodes. Maybe they'll show the first 3 episodes and premiere the FOURTH episode??
  20. Ranking the episodes that were streaming this weekend, we have: #8: Shippuden (What the hell is even going on here!?) #7: DragonBall Z Kai: The Final Chapters (The only part of this that was even remotely interesting was the video!) #6: Ghost In The Shell (Timeless story, crappy picture) #5: Dragon Ball Super (The Vegeta/Beerus fight was cool; otherwise not much else happened!) #4: Gundam Unicorn (Calm before the storm episode; explore wreckage of Laplace, find nothing...) #3: One Piece (This one wrapped the Thriller Bark arc up quite nicely!) #2: Hunter x Hunter (I thought it was Ten Nen Men, turns out it was 11. Compelling story!) #1: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Joke's on you, JoJo; turns out she's 50 and RELATED TO YOU!)
  21. Considering that slot's first vacancy would be April 29th, I'm thinking March 29th for the announcement kinda like they did with Kai and Super being announced on December 7th for a January 7th debut, and Ghost In The Shell HD on like January 4th for a February 4th debut! Then again, Tokyo Ghoul was a complete surprise on March 10th for its March 25th debut, so maybe not?
  22. Yes but airing it ahead of dub premieres sounds like kind of a bad call to me. Yes, that's currently the case with Hunter x Hunter, but that's a long-runner whose subbed version is about 5 years old. Assuming JoJo just keeps on going into Stardust Crusaders, that slot will become dub premiere as well in about 8 weeks (the first 3 episodes, assuming they use the same tracks, were debuted on Crunchyroll as a test dub in 2014.) Iron-Blooded Orphans did fine at 1 AM with Season 1 so it stands to reason it should at least regain that timeslot for Season 2 (if Adult Swim even wants to bring it back after Unicorn stank up the place with its ratings...) So if [as] hasn't lost faith in Gundam, I would expect IBO S2 to start at 1 and Tokyo Ghoul Square Root A (the 2nd season) to start at 2. The issue is that there are 11 episodes left in Unicorn, while Tokyo Ghoul has 12 episodes in its first season. So, how should Toonami handle this, if IBO needs to regain 1 AM for Season 2? Option 1: Nothing out of the ordinary; Ghoul just drops to 2 AM with the final episode of the first season. Sorry, but I think that would suck for Ghoul fans! Option 2: Short "hype" Gundam IBO S1 marathon beginning after Tokyo Ghoul the week after Unicorn ends and before IBO S2 premieres. Option 3: Sand Whale & Me marathon (the 5 episodes back-to-back-to-back) in the 2 AM timeslot the week after Unicorn ends. It will be interesting to see what they do regarding IBO S2, if they decide to give it a spin anyway! But it would be a dub premiere so I at least believe it deserves better billing than Tokyo Ghoul!
  23. Sure is a good thing we can't see any of this! :::
