The Toonami Ratings Thread 1.0 :You are on a new board

Sadly, this is true. I prefer to call them "lies!" No, actually, they're just opinions. Nothing more, nothing less. -
Yep, everyone's #1 Knucklehead Ninja is back on the stream this week! This one essentially picks up where the last one left off with episodes 131-135 through tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6:30 PM, then episodes 136-140 through Friday at 6:30 PM! The first 3 episodes cover the end of Jiraiya's battle with Pain, and the last two the beginning of Sasuke's confrontation with Itachi. So watch and enjoy!

Or maybe we should dismiss these as "alternative facts?" Good lord, that oxymoron makes me scratch my head! http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/daily-ratings/saturday-cable-ratings-jan-21-2017/ Well, 11:30 Super lost bad from 11 PM Family Guy, but not THAT bad, since FG couldn't even crack 1.4 million. From there drops as normal. 11:30 PM Dragon Ball Super 1,041,000 (74.95%) 12:00 AM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 925,000 (88.86%) 12:30 AM JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 760,000 (82.16%) 1:00 AM Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 648,000 (85.26%) And that's all I have since, as you can see, Gundam didn't even make the Top 100, nor did Super at 8 PM nor Jack or anything else after Gundam. But hopefully Programming Insider/Son Of The Bronx will provide the whole story soon! -

No, but they are the worst ratings for a non-marathon block in 2 years, at least from what I can see so far. The night of 1/10/15 was worse, when, lo and behold, the block was ALSO led-off by a rerun! Though those AOT episodes were 3-peats and not near-premieres like what we have right now. -

We've seen time and time again where Toonami shows can buck major trends and dominate Twitter and other social media while they're running, and this week was no exception: http://toonamifaithful.com/toonami-trending-rundown-for-january-21-22-2017/ United States Trends:#JoJosBizarreAdventure [#2] #GundamUnicorn [#3] #HunterXHunter [#1] #Shippuden [#5] #OnePiece [#1] Kuma (From One Piece) [#16] Zoro (From One Piece) [#4] Toonami/#Toonami [#3] #DragonBallSuper (Also during the Primetime Presentation) [#2] #SamuraiJack (During the Primetime Presentation and during the announcement the next day) [#7] #DBZKai [#3] #OnePunchMan [#2] Tweet Counts: Toonami [6,629 tweets] #Toonami [2,574 tweets] #DragonBallSuper [15.9k tweets] #DBZKai [1,736 tweets] #JoJosBizarreAdventure [2,249 tweets] #GundamUnicorn [1,321 tweets] #HunterXHunter [2,137 tweets] Kuma (From One Piece) [32.8k tweets] Well, that's the good news. Unfortunately, we've also seen how nights in which trending was high also doesn't necessarily translate into high ratings. Well, last Saturday night this was also true, and brace yourselves, because this is just plain depressing: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-1-21-2017.html 1/21/2017 Dragon Ball Super (8 PM) - #58 Adults 18-34 Rating - N/A Estimated 18-34 - #VALUE! ( #VALUE! ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.28 Estimated 18-49 - 359,000 ( 51.29% ) Total Viewers - 700,000 1/21/2017 DBZ Kai: Final Chapters - #20 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.53 Estimated 18-34 - 360,000 ( 38.92% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.43 Estimated 18-49 - 551,000 ( 59.57% ) Total Viewers - 925,000 1/21/2017 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - #36 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.41 Estimated 18-34 - 279,000 ( 36.71% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.34 Estimated 18-49 - 436,000 ( 57.37% ) Total Viewers - 760,000 1/21/2017 Gundam Unicorn - #50 Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.38 Estimated 18-34 - 258,000 ( 39.81% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.30 Estimated 18-49 - 385,000 ( 59.41% ) Total Viewers - 648,000 I'm--just at a loss for words here. The 8 PM DB Super episode failed to crack the Top 50, and as such we may never know its performance with Adults 18-34. Samurai Jack reruns at 8:30 followed later by R&M may have been more of a failure than One Piece, as Toonami ALWAYS recovered from that valley in 2015, but now that's not the case. Perhaps more importantly, having Super at 8 PM has now officially effectively divided its audience, to Toonami's complete and utter detriment. However, the blame does also go to the news, with cable news channels which usually don't even challenge Toonami's dominance grabbing 15 of the top 20 slots with 18-49 in cable originals as the Trump Inauguration just completely turned everything upside-down. I provided the Trending numbers on this post to make the case that if nothing changes and Super remains with premieres at 8 PM, with Jack after at 8:30, it may signal that Nielsen Ratings are losing their ground as the medium which signals a show's wellbeing to advertisers, as trending and social media takes over. And there is also the good news, a silver lining on this dark cloud, in that DBZKFC managed to win the night in Adults 18-34 among cable originals (with Super's rerun at 11:30 probably only doing better, but it was disqualified since it was a rerun), and JoJo effectively tied for #4 and Gundam got #7 in that demographic at least among the Top 50 cable originals for 18-49, so advertisers will probably still look at that as a win despite that ridiculous amount of qualifiers. More good news? It can only go up from here next week, right? -
Consider what Adult Swim Saturdays will most likely look like after this: 8 PM Dragon Ball Super Sneak Premiere 8:30 Samurai Jack S5 Encore 9 PM FOX Comedy or Rick & Morty x2 10 PM Family Guy x2 11 PM Dragon Ball Super Toonami Near-Premiere 11:30 Samurai Jack S5 Premiere 12 AM Dragon Ball Z Kai 12:30 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 1 AM Gundam Unicorn 1:30 Hunter x Hunter 2 AM Naruto Shippuden 2:30 One Piece 3 AM Ghost In The Shell 3:30 Another Toonami Rerun? (Would begin March 18th*) 4 AM Repeat 9 PM 5 AM King of the Hill x2 *As March 11th is "Spring Forward" day, GITS would be at 4 AM on that day only, and 4:30-5:30 would be repeat of 9 PM hour, followed by a single KOTH.

To be fair, he rarely shits on other shows; he only defends One Piece whenever someone shits on it. Granted, he does defend it to a ludicrous degree, to the point of profanity and death-threat laced rants that get him banned multiple times across multiple message boards. But I can at least admit that he is generally defensive. Maybe he bashes Fairy Tail, but that's irrelevant anyway since not only is it not on Toonami now, it has never been and probably never will be.

Yes, as a matter of fact! Angelo Sauper was voiced by Michael Sinterniklaas, who is also the voice of Dean Venture! So Go Team Gundam! -
Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier

They actually WERE present in all four shows for Charter/Spectrum customers like me. In fact, the only Toonami show that doesn't have them is One Piece (but even it does have full titles, and OP's are a mouthful!) -
This is a great move, but SO many questions since Dragon Ball Super is currently playing there and won't be ending anytime soon. I wonder if DBS's destiny was to play at 11 PM all along; they just couldn't find a stop gap show to allow it to start there, and wanted to phase in the full 11 PM-3:30 AM expansion (if not 11-4). Funny, Mob Psycho probably would have fit the bill nicely, if maybe a little off since that would have meant we'd get Samurai Jack S5 on April 1st instead of March 11th. I am now picking either Lupin III Part 4 or Blue Exorcist Kyoto Saga to replace JoJo Part 2 IF the dub isn't ready to just keep on going with Part 3. But it now also seems Attack on Titan S2 will replace Samurai Jack S5, but how? Theoretically, that means it would debut on May 20th right before taking a break for a week after only putting out a single episode, but they wouldn't do that, right? Also, Memorial Day marathon SJS5 from 11-4 seems academic--or does it? A "hype" mini-marathon of the first season of AOT right before could also be interesting, but I also feel SJS5 should get a takeover night. Maybe May 20th, which would be really weird, but technically there'd be a hole there! Other interesting theory: Samurai Jack S5 won't get the full run of 10 episodes all at once, but rather 5 from March 11th-April 8th, and 5 more later this year. That would result in Attack on Titan S2's simuldub taking its place on April 15th! Would that even be possible? The Stohess Arc "hype" mini-marathon COULD still happen with a partial takeover on April 8th, which would simply shelve GITS for a week and expand Toonami to 4:30 AM that night with the last 3 episodes of Season 1. Also, March 11th is a very interesting date, since it's also the day we spring forward, and Adult Swim coughs up an hour that night. In 2015 and 2016 that didn't affect Toonami, but before that, it did. What will happen this year? Will action actually take 5.5 hours out of Adult Swim's 9 hours that night? Maybe, but I wouldn't count on expansion to 4 AM just yet. If it is going to happen and give GITS a rerun companion, maybe March 18th would make more sense. A limited rerun of AOT S1 leading up to Season 2 would be interesting. Whatever they decide to do with this show, and its replacement, as well as the fact that it is definitely displacing Super, is going to be interesting.

More like "Pray" for the world to still exist, if you believe. Trump doesn't want an "F" on his first 100 days report, because that would send him into a mad rage or something!
-
According to my on-screen guide, it seems that is actually the plot of the next episode! While I can't wait until we get serious again, I am enjoying this campy superhero romantic comedy stuff for what it is! But on to something serious now--JOJO! --wait, you're telling me JoJo tries to tell Santviento a bunch of silly jokes? What the hell!?

One of these days I need to show this episode to my firefighter friend and see what her professional opinion is! But as a civil engineer intern, I can say that MAYBE this might work? We don't know what the building materials are, and in a universe with wish-granting magical balls and dinosaur-dragons, I suppose it's possible!

It's funny that One-Punch Man Season 2 made most anticipated TV shows in 2017 for both Adult Swim and Toonami, but I don't think it's coming out until 2018!
