  1. Yeah really. It truly was an "anchor" show once it moved down to 2:30 AM, like InuYasha was in 2012 and 2013 at 5 AM. Toonami would do well to realize their mistake, re-acquire it, and pick up where they left off with Season 7 at 2:30 AM where GITS is right now. Perhaps that really IS the plan? I've been doing some rewatching this afternoon, and I've noticed a few missed opportunities for Toonami. Considering the commercial breaks of shows I've recorded: Dragon Ball Super - 7/29 8 PM: - early break: Rick & Morty - late break: Apollo Gauntlet - after show: R&M non-canonical AND Decker: Mindwipe Dragon Ball Super - 7/29 8:30 PM: - before show: Rick & Morty - early break: 15-second B&W bump - late break: 15-second CGI animated bump - after show: 15-second B&W bump Strange decision to run B&W bumps during DBS; were they doing that during Jack? Also the complete lack of any show promos, especially the JoJo promo, is strange. Also watched R&M on 7/23 and 7/30 and I haven't seen any Toonami ads so far. Edit: yup. Zilch. Zero. Granted, I think R&M S3's premiere probably greatly exceeded their expectations, but still, if 2.8 million people are watching, don't you think airing a single promo to advertise your 7 other huge premieres on another night would be a good move? I don't expect quite as many people to watch next week, but hopefully they'll actually throw Toonami a bone and air an updated schedule promo during the 11:30 Sunday premiere of "PIckle Rick!"
  2. Did no one comment on the Beerus/Whis and Sorbet color commentary? I thought that was the best part of this episode! Very JoJo!
  3. If anything, Hunter and Super should swap. I know it will never happen, but Hunter actually GAINED on its predecessor. No other Toonami show did last week.
  4. This site is not a "dumpster fire". You must be referring to the last "official" [as] boards. THOSE were indeed a blazing pile of garbage, because they were a completely incoherent shit-posting trollfest! [Except on Saturdays]
  5. Reminds me of the best line in Attack on Titan Season 2:
  6. I know that's taken out of context, but that's overwhelmingly gay! Seeing scenes like that might make me wonder if JoJo would be better off on the Bravo network than Toonami!

  8. Only in total viewers. Adults 18-49 went up 0.04. And apparently Hunter × Hunter's ratings were a mistake, as it beat the dumpster fire that is Tokyo Ghoul Root A in 18-49: http://programminginsider.com/ratings/final-nationals/saturday-final-nationals-adrien-broner-mikey-garcia-deliver-watched-live-showtime-boxing-match-30-months/
  9. I'm glad I got to watch most of it on old Syfy in 2009 and 2010!
  10. You mean 2nd highest, right? But that was a good, intriguing episode! I can see why it hooked people. And that night (which we're fast coming up on the 2nd anniversary of), was actually led by a random DBZ Kai episode which contained a clip of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F, a storyline that would eventually be remixed into the hideously poorly rated Dragon Ball Super Frieza's Resurrection arc. Go figure.
  11. Ended Toonami? No. But it's true that people just aren't as intrigued by this arc of HxH as they were of the first two. Hell, Heaven's Arena and Phantom Troupe did better! But there's actually reason to be encouraged about JoJo. It retained more than 88% of viewers and about 85% of Adults 18-49 when the average retentions from DBZ KFC to AOT were both 83%.
  12. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-7-29-2017.html 11:30 PM DBZ Kai: The Final Chapters 721,000 12:00 AM JJBA: Stardust Crusaders 638,000 (88.49%) 12:30 AM Tokyo Ghoul 598,000 (93.73%) 1:00 AM Hunter × Hunter 475,000 (79.43%) 1:30 AM Lupin The 3rd 475,000 (100.00%) 2:00 AM Naruto: Shippuden 461,000 (97.05%) 2:30 AM Ghost In The Shell HD 416,000 (90.24%) That's enough information to figure out that these shows are down 46% from the same time frame last year. Even more troublingly, it appears far from being lucky, 7/17 will go down in history as being the first month without even one show cracking a million since it first aired on [as]. I believe Super CAN work at 11 PM but it HAS to be a premiere! That being said, we still don't know how well it did this week. We will soon enough though.
  13. That was the MomoCon 2017 panel. JoJo was a safe bet, and it remains one, though it admittedly has begun with a "thud". But these are the Crunchyroll test dub episodes we're in right now. Once those end, maybe people will start watching again?
  14. I just don't understand why they didn't even bother with a new schedule promo for this lineup. Just confuse the hell out of people by saying JoJo is coming at 12:30 one week, then Midnight the next, and maybe run a scant number of Dragon Ball Super topicals with the correct airtime (11 PM), and you pretty much get what you deserve when the promos with the wrong time stream more often than those with the right time and the cable/satellite on-screen guides just can't keep up with the change (DirecTV's wasn't correct until Thursday afternoon). Granted, maybe such a promo exists and I still haven't seen it. I didn't watch the Super power hour last week (but I most likely will this week), so maybe they aired one on there. But anyway, after this knee-jerk schedule change, hopefully next week it will improve. That is what we saw in 2015 and 2016 when making similar changes, after all!
  15. I was optimistic. I was wrong. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-7-29-2017.html 7/29/2017 Dragon Ball Super (8:30) #8 (-4) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.37 Estimated 18-34 - 251,000 ( 37.30% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.28 Estimated 18-49 - 359,000 ( 53.34% ) Total Viewers - 673,000 7/29/2017 DBZ Kai: Final Chapters #4 (+1) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.42 Estimated 18-34 - 285,000 ( 39.53% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.33 Estimated 18-49 - 423,000 ( 58.67% ) Total Viewers - 721,000 7/29/2017 JJBA: Stardust Crusaders - #7 (-1) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.36 Estimated 18-34 - 245,000 ( 38.40% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.28 Estimated 18-49 - 359,000 ( 56.27% ) Total Viewers - 638,000 7/29/2017 Tokyo Ghoul - #11 (-2) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.32 Estimated 18-34 - 217,000 ( 36.29% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.25 Estimated 18-49 - 321,000 ( 53.68% ) Total Viewers - 598,000 7/29/2017 Lupin the 3rd - #18 (-4) Adults 18-34 Rating - 0.28 Estimated 18-34 - 190,000 ( 40.00% ) Adults 18-49 Rating - 0.21 Estimated 18-49 - 269,000 ( 56.63% ) Total Viewers - 475,000 To be fair, we still don't know what will happen when new Rick & Morty that HASN'T been run into the ground through asinine publicity stunts is in the "lead-up". That episode that got 2.8 million on Sunday is playing at 9:30 on Saturday and hopefully that will give Toonami a boost. Sunday is CLEARLY back on top of the old "Numbers Game" after getting its ass kicked week in and week out by Toonami in 2015 and 2016 except for during marathons. Over FOUR TIMES as many 18-34s watched Rick & Morty and over 1.5 times as many 18-34s watched Decker: Mindwipe and Apollo Gauntlet than watched DBZ KFC and JoJo the previous night. All we can do at this point is watch, tell others to watch, and hope things get better. But Live PD is a serious, weekly-recurring threat to Toonami. However, I wonder if it continues to do better if A&E will consider moving it to another night of the week? Also, UFC was a big thing last week, which only stands (no pun intended) to hurt Toonami even worse whenever it happens. But that won't be the case next week and hopefully people and on-screen guides alike will be used to this new schedule!
  16. I think the thing that disqualifies HxH and Shippuden (and also disqualified One Piece) is that they aired on the I-Channel while that was still a thing. But at some point you would think HxH and even Shippuden would requalify if that's the case. There's no confusing episodes in the 60's of HxH with the 1999 original, which I don't think even aired on TV, so that can't be it...
  17. Unless you've been living under a rock politically, you might have noticed that the :it: excuse for a Trump administration got a new communications director to replace Sean Spicer, whose name is Tony Scaramucci. Sounds suspiciously like "Scaramouche", right? Well, that's no accident, as the real name of the original "Scaramouche" was actually "Scaramuccia!" But I digress. Scaramouche appeared in all of 3 episodes of Jack, and meanwhile Scaramucci appeared at the White House for all of 10 days. Entertaining coincidence, no? Only difference is the robot Scaramouche was quite a bit more charming, voiced by Tom Kenny, while Scaramucci, a.k.a. "The Mooch," revealed himself to be not much better than this dumb cluck:
  18. Yes, it did advance on Wednesday night during Bebop. But it never advanced the last time it featured DBS last week, which means we had those same 5 episodes for a total of 7 days! As for this week, didn't get enough of the AOT S2 marathon which streamed this weekend? Well, you're in luck, because it looks like the stream will feature #31-#35 all week long through Friday night at 8! Unfortunately, to finish the season currently requires a FUNimation NOW account, as #37 isn't streaming, even with a cable log-in! Ditto for if you want to see #26-#28, though you can see #29 and #30 ("Season 2 Episodes 4 & 5") with a Cable log-in!
  19. Back to the topic, anyone care to take a stab at predicting ratings for last night? Here's my guesses: Total/18-49/18-34 DBS11: 950K/550K DBZK: 1000K/600K/400K JBASC: 950K/550K/350K TGRA: 850K/500K/300K HXH: 750K/450K LT3: 650K/400K/250K NS: 600K/350K GITS: 550K/300K AOT: 500K/250K
  20. You could also watch last night's Super this Saturday at 8 PM. A full hour of it--new episode at 8:30!
  21. Seriously, what is Avdol's deal? Why is he such a natural at Stands, when the Joestars have to have their power awakened by Jonathan Joestar's body? Was the maneuver he pulled to save the world from Dio at the end of Part 1 actually a STAND?? I guess we'll learn about Avdol soon enough...
  22. Speaking of Avdol, he also has the Joestar Birthmark, right? It is interesting that he has had the Stand since the day he was born, while the others' Stands were awakened by Jonathan Joestar's body! Edit: no wait. Avdol is simply a master with Stands! No Joestar birthmark. I guess he's kinda like Zeppelis were with Hamon?
  23. Guess what? This week I'm back to doing Top 10 lists! Yes, including Samurai Jack, because now for all intents and purposes it should be part of Toonami and end it with 3(!) reruns! But I digress... #10: Tokyo Ghoul - While it might be pretty to look at, I don't have a clue what the hell is going on! #9: Dragon Ball Super - Decent animation, but the movie still did this "do-over" better! #8: Hunter x Hunter - Little different from SAO, with Nen, they actually go INSIDE the video game! Also, farewell Kurapika and Leorio! #7: Attack on Titan - A good episode that sets the stage for Season 2. Also Damn, Hange, you scary! #6: Samurai Jack - RIP Scotsman, sorta--plus Jack vs. an uncomfortable number of little blue beast children and Ashi vs. the Dominator! #5: Ghost In The Shell - The classic, though fake and short-lived disbanding of Section 9! #4: DBZ Kai - The epic battle between Buu and Vegeta heats up, and Vegeta alludes to his intent to sacrifice himself! #3: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Oh how I've missed you. New JoJo has BAD attitude! And Avdol is no "chicken" either, even if his Stand is a giant cock! #2: Shippuden - A rare triumph for this normally inferior show, as Hollow Fox Naruto vs. Pain heats up! #1: Lupin the 3rd - Master Thief steals the show again, this time with an intriguing plot of twists and romance!
