  1. But the Reigen OVA would be hilariously disruptive because it's at least as long as 2, maybe 3 episodes! How in the hell would Toonami even DO that!? Then again, they DID air that hour special of SAO 3 so I guess it's probable. I suppose it's best if Toonami gives their viewers the courtesy of airing the OVA if something in Season 2 doesn't make much sense without it... So, I guess that week it would just pre-empt whatever's in front of it. I guess no harm would be done in the long run if that was SAO, JoJo, Black Clover, or Hunter x Hunter...
  2. Yeah, I get that. But this IS the network who advertised an interesting April Fool's Day and then did nothing. Even if it's only like 5%, that little swerve will always make me slightly suspicious.
  3. DAMN RIGHT it was!! Now maybe if we're lucky, we'll get Gundam: The Origin on Toonami this summer/fall!
  4. Well they're airing Boondocks at 1 AM these days--maybe AOT could follow that at 1:30? Though if you ask me the best Toonami show to attempt to pair with Boondocks is actually Megalobox, which I guess just makes its lack of topicals even more tragic because they finally have the perfect place to put them! But hey, at least it had the full-schedule promo, which is some ways is even BETTER!!
  5. ALRIGHT, LET'S FINISH THIS!!! 13. Begins pretty much the same as OVA #5. Except for a skirmish at the beginning, almost no action. Plus, we miss the lengthy recap for once. Grade: "C+" 14. Contains the clash of the 2 Unicorns, and a much longer recap than the previous episode. Grade: "B+" 15. Has the LAST long-form recap we will get until Episode 22, but since they didn't use the OVA #5 ending theme, it loses points for that. Grade: "B". 16. Very little action, but TENSE dialog. Feels kinda like a powder keg brewing. Grade: "C". 17. Contains pretty much all of the main action of Episode 6. It missed the 6th OVA ending theme, but... Grade: "B-". 18. This episode kicks off with a special OP, the 6th ending theme in all its glory! Plus, it explodes with the first dynamite action of OVA 7! Truly one of the best-presented episodes of Re:0096, and it's a shame it never got streamed on the Marathon Stream. Grade: "A+". 19. Contains Riddhe's deplorable actions before seeing the light, and the revelation of Laplace's Box. Not marred by any extremely jarring cliffhangers. Grade: "A-". 20. Sparse action except in flashbacks, but one of the most important episodes of the edit. Grade: "B+". 21. The major duel between Banager and Full Frontal, with a major assist from Riddhe, and the mansion pretty much just gets TRASHED! Grade: "A-". 22. The final episode kicks off with not one but TWO recap sequences, though the first one, with a different, sarcastic, female narrator, is quite comical for a serious franchise like Gundam. But they decided to end Re:0096 on a high note by using OVA #7's ED: "Star Ring Child" Grade: "A". AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST... GUNDAM UNICORN EPISODE 23: GUNDAM NARRATIVE PART 1!!! NO, SERIOUSLY!!!! [enjoy the movie...]
  6. Nah, and this pretty much confirms that MegaloBox isn't getting a rerun anytime soon unless they get the 4 AM hour back, which MIGHT not be so far-fetched once we get past the DST changeover on March 9/10. Currently Megalo has 5 episodes left so it's scheduled to end on March 23/24. I guess that means I get its finale for my birthday!! But after that, regaining the 4 AM hour with Megalo/Gundam IBO back-to-back MIGHT not be THAT far-fetched. At this point, Gundam IBO's rerun has 18 episodes left so they COULD roll with it through early summer before losing the rights. At this point, a jaded Gundam fan can only hope... But as for tonight, DAMN am I looking forward to that Gundam movie in a theater!! Also, I'll be shocked if we don't get Mob Psycho 100 Season 2 to replace MegaloBox on March 30th.
  7. Well, it is official. I got on my on-screen up and it does indeed say, for March 3rd "To You In 2000 Years: The Fall of Shiganshina, Part 1". What's really funny is ELSEWHERE on Adult Swim, they still think Adventure Time, Tigtone, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force are airing on weeknights, when they've been replaced by Samurai Jack (yay!), American Dad, and The Boondocks.
  8. Toonami just keeps kicking ass and taking names in trending! Megalobox goes 7 Rounds out of 8! http://toonamifaithful.com/toonami-trending-rundown-for-february-16-17-2019/ United States Trends: Toonami/#Toonami [#10] #MegaloBox [#10] #JoJosBizarreAdventure [#9] Koichi (From JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) [#20] #BlackClover [#10] #HunterXHunter [#3] Pitou (From Hunter x Hunter) [#14] #Shippuden [#7]
  9. SPOILER ALERT if you read that. You'll read about something called... ...and at that point I just had to close the article!
  10. BUMP: As Gundam IBO Season 2 has been pulled, it has been removed from this list.
  11. Asta has lost some of his ability and needs to get it back. Or, at least that's how it seemed to me.
  12. Damn, but if that's the case, how far into the year will it even come out? 50 episodes is next year. I'm thinking June myself. That would be around the time Megalobox's replacement would end if it's Mob Psycho 100 Season 2. UNLESS it gets a weeknight run, but they wouldn't do that, right? And what's really scary is if it does simply get IBO'ed and cut off in the middle of its run when Season 3 Part 2 is available, without a regular rerun to end the night, Shippuden would end up at 3:30 AM. Are we ready for that?
  13. Alright, just for posterity's sake I guess I'll continue my review of the edits to 7-12 and how well they improved on or fell short of the OVAs: 7. Ends after the first major action, but at least not on a cliffhanger. Grade: "B". 8. Ends during the wreckage exploration mini-arc, but it would have been better of if it had just continued. Grade: "C+" 9. I've gotta hand it to the Re:0096 editing crew, they went all out to make sure this episode stood out, along with using the original ending of OVA 3 as a special ending theme. It also ends exactly as the OVA ends, but did it do a MUCH better job than the OVA? I can't really say so, since the OVA also came packaged with a recap short which actually included the guitar solo of "Merry Go Round" over the main action. Grade: "A-". 10. There IS some action right at the beginning, but this episode still has . A pretty bad edit. Grade: "C-". 11. This contains the major action of the middle 3rd of the OVA, but ends on a semi-cliffhanger. Grade "C+". 12. Well, at least it ends the same way as the 4th OVA. Grade: "B". My review of the edits of 13-22 coming up tomorrow!!
  14. I just checked and looked and sadly you're right. Well, hopefully its final episode gets a promo. That would be a nice compromise. As for Sword Art: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/sword-art-online-alicization/episodes-1-2/.138142 Grade: "B+". Not sure if that's for the hour-long special combined with this episode or just this episode, but the review pretty much harps on this episode. It's a little slow, I'll admit, but I agree, and can hardly wait for Episode 3!
  15. Oh yeah, I get it--because the brown LOG comes OUT your butt!
  16. So that means we won't even see Megalobox topicals for its last 5 episodes? Or has it been "grandfathered in?"
  17. Holy stinking Super-Crap they DID actually address that!! ON to the next chall...oh. Guess THESE guys will end up showing up in the last 2 episodes, right?? https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/my-hero-academia/episode-37/.121781 Grade: "B+". Yeah, that's lowballing it worse than I imagined! Should have been AT LEAST an "A". ON to SAO3!
  18. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/boruto-naruto-next-generations/episode-18/.119655 Grade: "B-". I'll admit I was intrigued, but I find this a bit generous. It IS neat that the first half of the episode co-opted a bonus OVA that came packaged with the Boruto movie. ON TO THE MOST ANTICIPATED MHA in my President's Day "rewatch!"
  19. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/dragon-ball-super/episode-98/.118603 Grade: "B". I might have gone a notch higher, but for the most part, I agree. Bye bye, "Niners!" Hardly knew ya.
  20. Oh, OBVIOUSLY it's because some movies use multiple theaters and Tuesday night is a good night to cut down to one. Plus with Monday being Presidents' Day, it makes sense for the dual theater runs for the current blockbuster (probably Alita: Battle Angel) to go through the day on Monday. There's irony for you: at most theaters it's probably replacing a manga adaptation! Also, here's what you need to know before you go: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/advertorial/2019-01-31/what-you-need-to-know-before-watching-gundam-nt/.142483
  21. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/black-clover/episode-57/.139255 Grade: "B". That damn Midnight Sun...
  22. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/jojo-bizarre-adventure-diamond-is-unbreakable/episode-23/.106078 Grade: "B+". Believe it or not, Koichi is voiced by Zach Aguilar, so Reverb Act 3 is probably just his more normal Genos/Colt voice.
