I don't think his anime career is over by far. Once he's done with his counseling and recovery, Sentai will probably come calling. And he might have made this declaration in enough time to save his ironically creepy-ass role in JoJo Part 4... In other news, damn, didn't know he worked as a cop...uhh, behind the scenes...

Toonami U.S. Trending Report Screencaps Thread

Somehow Megalobox failed to score the knockout punch in round 7 when it comes to U.S. Trending... Yeah, this week was actually BETTER retention in both total viewers and adults 18-49 than even last! (69%/70% vs. 68%/65%). A quick scroll up reveals that. Remember, earlier I said this week was actually a new high for Boruto in both adults 18-34 and 18-49! It also seemed to be fueled at least partially by girl power since it pulled a 0.25 in F12-34, only down 0.1 from the M12-34 number, though oddly enough NOT SAO, which if you'll recall was one of the major "girl power" shows of 2015. The premiere of SAO3 was overwhelmingly male in the 12-34 demographic, only 0.03 less than double the female number. Perhaps that's because MHA is more of a "manly" show that lost the ladies?

I wonder how long it will be until Aniplex recasts Ed in FMA 03 and FMA:B and then charges an arm and a leg for them?

mha My Hero Academia Episode #36 (223) Discussion

So perhaps they CAN see each other, and they're the only ones who can?? -
I'll admit, last week's hour-long special of SAO was a SLOG. It was like 15 minutes of actual action and suspense, 15 minutes of exposition, and 15 of nigh-incomprehensible pseudotechnobabble. That said, those 15 minutes of action and suspense were among the best 15 minutes of the night, with dueling dragons in the Underworld, guns blazing in GGO, and the climactic real-world cliffhanger that saw Kirito apparently poisoned while dealing damage to Johnny Black with a freaking UMBRELLA.

Interesting-looking night so far. Dragon Ball Super back above 800K, and Boruto actually did better in Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49 than it ever has, but then SAO came back with Alicization, and it was "Ehhh…": That's pretty much equivalent to last year's April Fool's Day stunt "Mind Game." So far, this has been the most hyped-up thing of 2019, and it doesn't seem like it lived up to the hype. But is that the fault of being led-into by a weaker episode of MHA than this week's, with its odd couple showdown of Deku and Bakugo vs. All Might would be? I guess we'll see if SAO: Alicization Episode 2 gets a boost a week from today! Also, we don't know how MHA did yet, because of Adult Swim's bizarre, stubborn insistence that it's a "rerun".

mha My Hero Academia Episode #36 (223) Discussion

Bet the day SHE was born was confusing: "Uhh, ma'am you're done. The baby's just uhh...invisible. Guess that's its quirk. Now to determine the sex, but first you have to sign a waver that I am not sexually molesting your child. Unfortunately the only way we can determine the baby's sex is to touch the genitals. You understand, right, ma'am..." "It's OK; I'LL do it. Just gotta be gentle..." *2 minutes later* "She's a girl!" https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/my-hero-academia/episode-36/.121453 Grade: "B+". I would have gone a bit higher. Also, while I have thoroughly enjoyed this low stakes tournament-esque "Final Exam" arc, it does bug me a bit that the number of episodes left in Season 2 is so low that the only way this can play out is for the real threat lurking out there to re-emerge right at the tail end; in fact there are only 3! But next week is the big bad fight to end all Final Exam fights: and man is its setup a doozy! Deku must team up with his biggest rival to beat his mentor! Looking forward to it! Also, there was no review of the SAO3 1-hour premiere on ANN; the first review is for that and the 2nd episode together, so this is my last post of this week's Toonami...most likely.
