What's funny is I tried to open multiple windows tonight, which backfired, sorta. I still got AOT and TPN, though my original AOT thread got overlaid with the TPN content because it "restored previous content..."- 147 replies

Gundam: The Origin coming to Toonami July 6th
OwlChemist81 replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Actually, it's a prequel of the original Mobile Suit Gundam! This does actually bring up an interesting question of when Gundam IBO Season 2's rerun would have ended if it were allowed to have kept going beyond episode #33 on 2/9. In case you were wondering, it would have ended on June 8th, meaning it would have ended a month before Origin began. -
Toonami MomoCon 2019 panel announcement predictions!
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
The Q&A wasn't remotely useful except for the "more originals" bit. And after the panel, they got to show AOT #50 to the in-house crowd. You'll see it tomorrow night. I believe the dub of Golden Wind may simply not be ready yet, so JoJo goes on hiatus. But will it replace H×H or SAO-A? Also, it's looking like we're gonna get through 8 full months of Toonami without a marathon!- 22 replies

Gundam: The Origin coming to Toonami July 6th
OwlChemist81 replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I think it's gonna be a good one! It looks like it will most likely replace The Promised Neverland. SAO-A's and H×H's replacements are still unknown. Also, mark my words, this will probably be the first Gundam show to ever have weekly topical promos! -

I was sick and having to run to the bathroom at practically every commercial break so I wasn't able to post some reviews last week. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/jojo-bizarre-adventure-diamond-is-unbreakable/episode-36/.109435 Grade: "A". This final arc is somehow mirroring Part 3, but with a HUGE twist! And you just plain have bad taste if you're not enjoying this!!

Toonami MomoCon 2019 panel announcement predictions!
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Yeah, that will be GREAT! Rather than getting one dubbed episode a week beginning sometime this summer, we'll get all 39 in a binge around next April. [no thanks]- 22 replies

Wow, Whis, FUNimation and Ian Sinclair goofed. They said Hit was from the 11th Universe, when of course he's from the 6th! It could be that Whis's Japanese VA made the same mistake though. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/dragon-ball-super/episode-111/.122744 Grade: "B". No way the quality was going to keep up with last week, even with such a promising premise. And of course this episode was eaten alive by the NBA. Let's see what's on tap for next week? "Vegeta's Resolve??" Vs. Game 6??? Ugh.

THIS JUST IN: Unfortunately, Toonami WILL be going up against NBA Playoffs East Game 6 (MIL vs. TOR). The game starts at 8:30 ET, so barring OT, it should at least be over by the time Dragon Ball Super begins. I could care less about either team, so I will most likely be watching Toonami.
-
I honestly don't think that matters anymore. The almighty NBA is more of a threat to Toonami's success than a holiday. Perhaps Toonami foresaw they'd just have to take the piss on this one and could claim higher ratings for 5/25 despite it being a "holiday" so they inked the AOT deal?
-
Full numbers for Toonami are in, and though I have to give some credit to Black Clover, Shippuden, and Hunter x Hunter, they just weren't enough to prevent it from going all to hell! https://programminginsider.com/saturday-final-ratings-saturday-night-live-44th-season-on-nbc-leads-the-days-broadcast-network-telecasts-in-total-viewers-and-all-key-demos/ 5/18/19 - Total Viewers Show Viewers Retention DBS (P) 661,000 MHA 408,000 61.72% TPN 363,000 88.97% SAO3 334,000 92.01% JoJo4 271,000 81.14% B. And this marks the first time this year the 18-49 average was under 200K, ending the Spring 2019 11 PM-4 AM era on a SOUR note. For the time period from 2/16/19-5/18/19 that Toonami ran from 11 PM-4 AM, its average across all timeslots was 419,329 total viewers and 255,414 adults 18-49. Toonami's average so far across all timeslots for 2019 is 407,684 total viewers and 247,198 adults 18-49. Though the move back to 11 PM was obviously damage control, numbers are still down from this time period last year. Hopefully regaining 10:30 PM will actually help things now!

Brace yourselves, folks. This ain't gonna be pretty: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-5-18-2019.html Even though Dragon Ball Super went up against the 1st-round knockout punch to the jaw that was the Wilder-Brazeale (sic?) fight, it still somehow managed to best it in adults 18-49. And to be fair, the 18-49's weren't THAT bad, but the total viewers and 18-34s were scary low. We're talking <100K for SAO-A and JoJo. It's a shame that it takes an event like Goku vs. Jiren to carry the block these days; let's hope the premiere of new AOT will do the trick next week, and MHA won't enfeeble the block as a lead-in. But it can only go up from here, right?? Toonami doesn't have any strong competition against pro sports anytime in the near future. I don't think baseball games can hurt the block this bad, and yes, the NBA Finals are coming up, but none of the games are on Saturdays: So, looks like if Toonami can manage its previous level of success with only one Family Guy as a lead-in, it should do fine. And of course, the hype of new dubbed AOT should do the trick. We just had to have THIS bump-in-the-road first. Edit: Actually, that's NOT true. You better hope the Bucks sweep the Raptors from here on out or else, THIS will happen on the same night AOTS3 Part 2 premieres: https://www.google.com/search?q=nba+playoffs+schedule&ie=&oe=#sie=m;/g/11h79jsb7j;3;/m/05jvx;dt;fp;1;; At least this time it's on TNT, which never seems to do as much damage as ESPN. People leave it on that channel all night and watch SportsCenter ad nauseum, but TNT eventually turns over to reruns.

THIS IS A SCHEDULE UPDATE ALERT
OwlChemist81 replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
While the ratings of Toonami STUNK TO HIGH HEAVEN last week, I don't think Toonami is going to be "cancelled" in the sense that it was the first time. I believe it will more or less "retire," this time not against the crew's will, but as they want it to be. Financially even at its height in 2015, this Toonami couldn't compare to anything that the CN Toonami could do. Hence I doubt [as] will tell it to improve or take a hike. I believe Demarco and Co. will just close up shop when they feel it's time. One shitty night of ratings vs. the steamroller that is a Golden State basketball game won't do the block in! -
