the catacombs in ds made me ragequit 3 or 4 times cause i really didn't feel like getting btfo on the long ass way to pinwheel time after time, having to start all the way before you even get to the main caves/ w/e theyre called

by the time i got to pinwheel my hands were sweating and shaking so badly just knowimg i was on the verge of dying and having to start all over, i have no clue how i even beat pinwheel first try.

every hit i dodged was some mahou homura tier shit.

what the hell game are you playing?

Fucking stupid Crash Bandicoot. It's not a good game. It has parts of it that are really well done, but it also has a lot of it that are bullshit. Not just hard, actual bullshit. Some levels have boxes that they don't indicate, or even hint at, that never appear on screen. You just have to KNOW they're there. But the worst is Cortex Power, where you have to go backwards several times because there are five different paths. And it's not built for that, because you have to time your jumps for moving platforms that you CAN'T SEE.

By the way, if you're looking to complete the game 100%, you have to beat every level WITHOUT dying, and getting EVERY box, including the aforementioned off-screen ones that have NO indication. That is not good game design in any respect.

Whoa whoa whoa!  Let's not hate on Naughty Dog too much.  They gave us Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter, after all.

No, Crash Bandicoot is NOT GOOD. The third one is okay, the second one also has a lot of bullshit but it's better. But make no mistake, the first Crash game is badly designed.

Maybe in the checkpoint system, but the platforming's still fun.  >:(

No, the platforming is garbage.  >:(

There are certain things it does well, but I would argue that platforming is not one of them. And that's not good, because it's a platforming game. Setting aside the backtracking I mentioned before (which requires timed jumps for moving platforms you can not see at all), there are many situations in which the camera angle makes certain jumps incredibly difficult to figure out. It would be one thing if you could look at it and go, "Okay, I think if I jump here, I'll make it." But no, it forces you to fuck up, and die, and die, and die, and die, and God damn die, until finally you have every single jump down pat. That is not good design, and it completely kills the flow of the entire game.
