Stonergoth187 Posted June 9 Posted June 9 (edited) Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time re-make slated for release at the end of 2026 https://www.ign.com/articles/the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time-remake-revealed-for-nintendo-switch-2 Edited June 9 by Stonergoth187 Quote
Raptorpat Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Prefacing that they will get my money, the vibe I'm getting is more of a FFVII remake as opposed to a direct/faithful remake like OoT3D was. I know it's entirely subjective, but I'm not sold that a wholesale remake (aka new game) is warranted because the original, or the original with the QOL from OoT3D, still holds up really well compared to modern games today. If it's an entirely new/modern game just with the same name and story, might as well just make a new game instead? Still processing my thoughts, and of course I'm gonna get it, but a 100% remake feels akin to remaking the Wizard of Oz or the Godfather. 1 Quote
rpgamer Posted June 11 Posted June 11 I'd grab it if I could, y'know, afford a new console and new first-party game prices... But, much like FF7R, I reckon there will be enough new modern changes that it might feel like OoT thematically, but some of the magic might be missing. Optimistically, tho, I kinda hope they take the reception as "more like this please" and not just "more nostalgia bait please." After skipping TotK, I'd sure like to go back to a new proper-Zelda game. Quote
rpgamer Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Additional thought: If this doesn't lead to Majora's Mask getting the same treatment (perhaps even being bundled together), then what's even the point? Quote
Chappi Posted Wednesday at 08:04 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:04 PM I know it wouldn’t be as impressive considering how I’ve seen people bash older graphics, but I think I would’ve preferred a port of the 3DS version because it still holds up good. Will be cautiously optimistic about it being decent though just by virtue that it’d take far more effort to mess up OoT. 1 Quote

That was my thought with the 3DS remakes, it took a while for MM to get any confirmation even though two thirds of the assets were already there. Downside to MM3D was they changed the saving mechanic which was literally the soul of the game. Quote
