Adult Swim appears to be losing King of the Hill

According to the online schedule, King of the Hill increases its airtime to 6 hours per night starting next week. On 11/21, it will air its original finale episodes, and on 11/22 it is no longer on the schedule at all, with Bob’s Burgers increasing to 7 episodes a night to cover the normal slots formerly occupied by KotH. 11/21 also marks the 4 year mark of the show returning to AS. 
 

Thoughts? Pretty strong chance the success of the reboot is a big contributing factor here. 
 

We also have the 4 year mark of Futurama coming up at the end of the year. Given how little they air it, think they will let that go too?

Both Futurama and KOTH have future Hulu seasons, and with Hulu under the purview of the Mouse, the rug was going to get pulled sooner or later.

With the company split looming over Adult Swim, the future of the block is a big question mark.

Okay, I will concede that Futurama is not long for Adult Swim for the second time in its history, considering they only air 90 minutes a week. Exclusively on Saturdays after Toonami, Primal, and UWE.

But if King of the Hill goes, then the network has to fill a lot more shoes beginning at 5 PM. Maybe they can fill the slots with Bob's Burgers, but that would just make people hate the show due to oversaturation.

In any case, Step 1 in Adult Swim's new guidebook is under way, and we haven't even hit 2026 yet. Unless they try and get KOTH to stick around, that is.

Unfortunately this is exactly what they are doing. 5-8:30 is gonna be Bob’s Burgers 7 days a week. 
 

The extensions they got were very reliant on KotH and Bobs being around to fill them. Now Bob has to do it all himself and I doubt that is sustainable.

With the amount of Family Guy airing on Thanksgiving weekend, it's making some folks wonder if Family Guy is leaving before 2026 and Futurama probably would too. Can you imagine an AS with only Bob's Burgers and American Dad to rely on before 11pm? It really would be time to consider ending the network.

Next year will be make or break for the block given the planned split (and it sounds like Zaslav wants the split so he can sell a debt free Warner).

Adult Swim airing just two Fox shows? On paper, that sounds nice. But when you realize that the two shows will air from 5 to 11 PM, likely airing in three-hour blocks each? Not as much in practice.

Also, if Family Guy's return was only for one year, why would they devote three whole nights to the show back in January?

If the rumors surrounding KOTH, Futurama, and now Family Guy wind up true, then it doesn't give me much hope.

It appears that on Sunday, it returns to its regular amount. So maybe they are doing some kind of holiday weekend marathon for it or something. 
 

They definitely cannot drop below 3 Fox heavy hitters. I’d even say they might need to be shopping for a lesser Fox show or two just as a time filler.

They already blew that path forward by unceremoniously cancelling it. It already wasn’t doing well, people won’t come back to it knowing that AS will gladly cancel it again the moment something better to air falls in their lap.

I don't know how feasible it'd be, but I like the idea of [as] bringing back Adventure Time and finally airing Regular Show as a new 5-to-7 time filler. Yeah, I know those shows are already airing on CN, but what's the value of that part of the channel at this point?

While I would agree that those shows would fit at this point, that would end up further confusing people. Not to mention require other shows to be CN's lead-in and lead-out programming.

Update: If Swimpedia is to be believed, then AS is keeping Futurama around and making it their new lead-out program at 5 AM. I think that's good.

December 1st (a Monday) has Futurama at 5pm-6pm too followed by Bob's Burgers and Family Guy blocks. I"m all for seeing Futurama in the daylight again but have they really just been keeping it in reserves and intend to use it effectively now that King of the Hill is gone? I guess we'll see and perhaps they'll air American Dad before 1am again as well.
