KageRageX Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Crazy how it's been 20 years since this show premiered. I thought the show didn't actually premiere until MAY 2005 as that's when the original incarnation of Fox's Animation Domination started. Quote
[classic swim] Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 Yeah they waited until Family Guy’s revival to really showcase that branding. It was more of a general entertainment block before since you had X Files and Malcom. 1 Quote
1pooh4u Posted February 6 Posted February 6 I can’t believe it’s been around for 20 years. I have not watched it in a long time though. Kinda lost touch with the show around when Jeff returned from Space and then was born again by Roger oh and the little Roger Rogu or something like that 2 Quote
[classic swim] Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 I’ve been on and off with it forever, feels like they’ve made a million episodes under TBS. 2 Quote

The first episode aired as a post-Super Bowl preview, like how Family Guy premiered. Cool thread. And in a cool coincidence, Minto referenced an episode of this last night. 1 1 Quote

I'm kinda wondering...what would have it been like if the show continued airing on Fox, or even if the show just ended at it's Fox run, then likely got revived. American Dad and Brooklyn 99 were lucky given past experiences with Family Guy/Futurama. American Dad even did better on FOX than when those two started out because the improved landscape allowed for that to be. Quote Family Guy: Season 1-3 Episode Guide “You may notice that the original airdate of this episode is the same as the original airdate of ‘The King is Dead.’ Something network executives call ‘double pumping’ a show, meaning to air two new episodes in a row. The Truth is, ‘double pumping’ is just a nice way of saying, ‘this show is all but cancelled, so we might as well air all these episodes we paid for, and, while we’re at it, let’s blow through them as quickly as we can so we can rush Temptation Island 8 onto the air.’ So, needless to say, we all kinda thought we were in trouble at this point. And we were pretty much right.” - Seth MacFarlane I always took it that American Dad was just unconventional and not safe-bland enough for FOX after awhile. The way the network got pissy at any of their shows shitting on FOX News or being too lib for their fancy makes me surprised they had less of a problem back when it was a Fuk U Bush show. Quote
Jman Posted Saturday at 07:10 PM Posted Saturday at 07:10 PM The only time Matt Groening got a “don’t do this again” note from Fox was when one episode directly made fun of Fox News and their ticker. The messenger has always been Rupert’s biggest concern, hence him spending his final days trying to keep it from his liberal kids. Quote
