Blue Exorcist Return To Toonami Discussion!

Recommended Posts

Been studying exorcism since he was 7 and finished all his courses 2 years ago.  Youngest exorcist ever. A child prodigy!

Calm down in class, Rin!

LOL why didn't Yukio have him and Rin step out instead of make everyone else leave.

Good job, Rin!

Damn, Yukio is a gunslinger extraordinaire!

So Yukio isn't so cool with things after all.

So saying that threw his dad off and gave Satan an opening?  Ouch.  He didn't kill his dad, but that sure didn't help.

Oh come on, I'm sure there were other people who Satan couldn't possess.

We're still brothers!

Is no one in the hallway hearing this? 😄

Rin has some moves too.

"I'm not going to fight my little brother!"

LOL what's up with the room.

And they're roommates too!  They get the whole building to themselves.  Surveillance... ouch.

I guess there's no shortage of rooms if the school can spare a whole dorm building.

Yukio has to dumb down the lesson plan for Rin. 😄

You have to be attacked by a demon to see the demons?  Wha?  What an odd thing to put into the world building.

You have to wounded by a demon for a regular human to be able to see them. Sort of like a bit of demon blood I imagine.

Yeah, kind of a cool Piece of lore.

BTW, I am Catholic myself, so this show resonates with me on a different level from others!

Yukio said all exorcists have to go through it, if it hasn't already happened by happenstance.  So seems like that goes for any human.

This shady guy is the director of the school?

So the cram school is so Rin can fight even as a student?

Dog form again. 😄

Yeah, he's very interesting.

Yup, publicly it's a top notch regular school for rich kids, but secretly there's the exorcist training facility in the guise of the cram school.

It's hilarious he picks a cute dog form lol.

Yeah, seems any humans looking to be an exorcist would need to if it hasn't happened to them already by chance. Also, I think other types of significant exposure can "count", which if I remember is among some of the things we learn about for the first time with Shiemi's case. Since Yukio got it from Rin maybe his blue flames did it before they were sealed with the sword.

Yeah, just seems to be a weird thing to put in the lore as it puts humans at a major disadvantage.

I guess this show is going for the trope of this "could" happen in the real world, because average people don't know about the supernatural stuff going on.  I mean, we already can accept these supernatural series aren't based on the real world haha.

Hmm, I think that's why it's not so weird, I think what you described could be exactly why the author made it important in the lore, giving humans such a potentially major disadvantage in the conflict and also giving a somewhat plausible "realistic" explanation why most people remain unaware of the real supernatural stuff going on despite such a modern real world setting, plus it ups the threat level and explains all the secret agencies.

Also, I imagine future seasons might still take more advantage of the lore more than we've seen so far since we never even got up to getting backstories for even some of the main team before season 1 dropped all of it to veer off into anime-only territory.

I remember really liking the show overall thanks to the canon parts we got of season 1 so I'm really looking forward to finally seeing more of the main story.

I remember the first time this episode aired. Brings back some good memories of a pretty good line up. Anyone remember what else was airing at the time?

Same here, I remember watching this one too.

Not sure either, though I think we still had Bleach at that time. Gonna look it up.

I'm thinking at least 2 additional newer shows were airing at the same time. I wonder if Deadman Wonderland was one of them.
