The great Verizon outage

Those of us who rely on Verizon as their main mobile carrier, unexpectedly lost service today. Currently relying on public Wi-Fi when available or Xfinity hotspots for the rest of the day.

I've got Verizon. It's been business as usual all day, and I've either had the TV on or been playing YouTube on my phone.

Still have no service in my part of the city.

It's all over the news, millions are experiencing outages, some aren't, some have and gotten their coverage back. For my part I live in Minnesota and currently relying on my Xfinity WiFi.

Heh. I had to actually go and check my tator-fone to see if there was anything going on with it.

as well as AT&T, T Mobile, Astound, CenturyLink, Cricket, US Cellular, Straight Talk, and now other sites are having issues.

Got my service back around 5:30 pm.

Didn't a similar thing happen last year or earlier this year?  It was 2 or 3 services that we down.

Back in February AT&T pooped itself because someone didn't dot an I or cross a T somewhere while expanding their network. It vaguely affected other networks but mainly because people were trying to call people on AT&T networks and not getting through.
