Why didn't this go into mass production?

So, when the same box is posted elsewhere on the web along with a statement that it contains a bubble gum card, that's all the AI will answer with.  Nevermind any of what's actually inside.

Well, I guess I'll continue this. Surely, you can come up with a better scenario.

I have a box. Something is in it. I know you have no idea what is in it, but can you explain to me why that is?

ChatGPT: As an AI language model, I don't have access to any sensory information or data outside of what is provided to me through language inputs. Therefore, I have no way of knowing what is in the box or any information about the box itself unless you provide that information to me. Even if I were given some information about the box, such as its dimensions or weight, it would still be impossible for me to determine what is inside without additional information. In other words, my understanding is limited to the information provided to me through text-based questions and inputs.

You flip a fair coin once.

All you can say before it lands is that there is a Bernoulli random variable for whether the coin will be heads or tails.

It is probability, and is the most you can say.

It is not a guess nor is it knowing.

So, your AI is just like any other computerized system, only responding with whatever is put into it.

So, you're making my point for me.

It has no authoritative answers of its own.  At least it admits so.

The answer it gave here would have been nut shelled ten years ago.  "Insufficient data..."

Well?

This AI demonstration also shows that the web itself is neither all knowing nor infallible.

The only people who really know what is in the box are those who have personally opened it.  The web and AI can not be accurate in either confirming or denying it.

But, you guys... Just carry on forever about, "Herp Derp!  It's not on the web, so it isn't real!"  Or, Duh huh!  This guy over here on a blog who never opened the box says there's a tennis ball and a collection of soup cans in it, so that's the only fact I'll accept.  Never mind anyone who opened it, that's just anecdotal!"

OMG the most profound and far reaching statement I have ever heard..

Your statement equates to "humans do not know everything".

Congrats, you are an omnipotent genius.

You do know that ChatGTP is a chat bot? It is meant for conversation. It is not all knowing. It is not a solution to everything, or many things.

As a person who works on building things like this and has been heavily involved in acadimia and the industry, it saddens me that we spend so much time toiling away only for people like you to come along haha but all is well. A professor I worked with when I was a doctoral candidate used to love people like you, who would challenge him to make things more elegant and more easy to disseminate.

Apologies, I got bored and had some drinks and am a bit buzzed on the sofa..
