My response to the state of the union

I enjoyed your thoughts!

My thoughts on the balloon? Haha not so serious but still a serious NS risk. China is showing they can put a payload right over our airspace.

In terms to your comments on education, I absolutely think more funding needs to go into it, but as you said it is up to the states. But realistically DoD funding will come first. Not only is the industry monstrous, but more significantly, it is necessary. (not to say that restructuring and the like would not free up funding for other projects). If you take this to the extremes you end up with a lack of NS interfering with effective education. But those types of scenarios are not very realistic, but good thought experiments.

With regards to disaster mitigation and response, do you mean to do away with FEMA or restructuring etc.? Or were you speaking about some kind of international program?

Of course America should not push a 'world police' attitude anymore, but regardless, we have been put into the spot of being the leading hegemony of current times. With issues in Indo-Pacific and Southeast Asia like the 80 year civil war that is ongoing in Burma etc., who knows where lines should be drawn for intervention or what not.

Loved your point about deterrents, nukes have stopped WWIII for over 80 years now!

I brushed lightly on the points in your video and tried to leave out as much of my opinions as possible.

But the world is still a great place and could get worse, but it could also get better!

@atomicinumatt disaster service would be a uniform service similar to the NOAA commission corp and the US public health service commission corp (but with enlisted and comisson officer contingents in the theoretical service) Get rid of the FEMA and yes it would be deployed internationally fairly when needed theoretically  IE  war to earthquacks

how bad are education system especially the special education system is is a personal issue to me especially considering I used to be in special education

American need allies not supporters

I do agree that FEMA at least needs an overhaul, if not to be completely redone. We have seen that during events like Katrina, they really dropped the ball.

America has many zones of high incidence of natural disaster. Hurricanes, earthquakes, severe weather and tornadoes, floods and droughts, heatwaves and winter storms (not to mention non natural disasters). They all kill Americans. This in particular is also a huge zoning/insurance/management failure as well though, and that is a whole other topic haha

Education may be even more difficult though. More funding is needed but as you said, it is a state issue. There is no reason that our average education should be as bad as it is. I am not as familiar with the intricacies of the education industry, so I cannot speak to the nuances of the problem, but it definitely seems like an implicit NS risk to the country in the long-term.

Yeah the disaster issue would cause FEMA to be reformed I mean honestly  Honestly 9/11 also shows cracks in the FEMA system but but we need to think as a uniform service with would be a little bit more disciplined and organized logistically speaking

education is a long-term national security list but I'm also for legislation not listing the nation as a whole But the individual states in any type of international ranking it is a state responsibility and other countries need to understand that stop criticizing Texas or California for what Kansas or Oklahoma does
