Not sure if that was before the dubbing was done, or he had retired by then. It was close, either way. If it happened in 2021 it would be interesting to know if he was in the first season. But I believe this is a Bang Zoom dub, not an Ocean dub. Yes, they paid extra for some of the original Ocean voice actors and it was damn nice for David Kaye to resume his role as Sesshomaru, but that doesn't necessarily mean French wasn't retired.

Most of the original VAs came back, except for Jaken's. Rin's is even the same. She was actually a child actress back during the original series and has grown up along with Rin here. 2
