Shoutout to this old white that sat next to me on the bus.

There was a black guy on the bus as well, and the old white walked all the way to the back where I was. Then he straight up told me he "Didn't want to be by that n*****." I was just like, "Alright then, bub," and put my earbuds back in.

But it's okay, because racism is dead, guys. Don't worry.

And you just sat there next to him.

Good job, team...make sure you keep us posted when you do nothing

At his age (probably close to 80), what was I gonna do, change his mind? Talk him out of it?Beat an old man to a pulp? That would not feel good, or cathartic, or justified. Once you get to a certain age, you're done learning lessons. You are who you are.

Besides that, I'm a coward, and I get sick when confrontation happens. I won't deny that. Trust me, there's not a criticism that exists that you could throw at me, that I don't already think about myself. I stink as a person. I know that. My whole thing is, I'm just trying to get through life.

I was just suggesting you move and not sit next to the racist..  I didn't want you to start a fight

Elbow him in the ribs where no one can see.

Honestly, I don't know how you sit next to a dude after he says that.  It's enough to make my skin crawl.

Omaha is probably exactly like Boston in terms of segregation. He should have told him to fuck off but racism is like this entity there. It's pervasive.

Cool, but that doesn't stop you from moving away from the person.  Disengaging is not really an option, it's mandatory when you're dealing with toxic shits like this.

That man could have sat some distance from him, not many people ride Omaha buses. Racism is something I have to deal with in my family, LA is not the world.

I mean, it's not contagious. And when I say "next to," he was technically on the right hand side of the bus, and I was on the left side.

Also, we can't just move about willy-nilly because of social distancing. I'm not trying to get smacked by Uncle COVID just because I was annoyed by someone who was near me.
