Yeah, I guess we could call it more of an assumption at this point than fact, perhaps more likely that that power to erase memory and stay in power easily corrupts.

Well if it's one of those "that's how the power works!" things, it's one of the sillier ones.   Up there with "KILL YOUR BEST FRIEND!" to get that one Sharingan ability. :D Maybe the King's soul passes on through that power and he possesses them when they become the Founding Titan.  But that doesn't sound much better, lol.  Regardless of the cause, unless they are incorrect, or it's like you said, it seems like a convenient writing trap, otherwise.

Soo, question 1: If the juice works just by licking it, what's the fucking point of making it an injection?

Question 2: What the hell happened to turn the kid into a whiny emo little shit? Spend 40 episodes believing he's the most badassiest punk that ever lived and he's going to be the greatest of all time, and suddenly now he realizes what an insignificant twat he is? I mean, he's an insufferable little bitch either way, but it's a pretty wild swing. Put up no resistance to the idea that he's responsible for every problem and deserves to die. Feels like he really shoulda been screaming about how he can still fix everything himself.

My dvr failed to record, so I had to wait until this came up on the on demand list.

Question 1: Are we sure it worked properly though?
Considering how fucked up his form is, that it seems to have to drag itself, it's possible that taking it wrong, or maybe specifically licking just a drop of it rather than taking the whole amount, may have made a difference. Maybe it was supposed to turn him into a still very powerful, and still maybe large, but perhaps at least slightly more normal mindless Titan than this? Since he had intended to use it on Historia who would then be able eat Eren to become a Shifter (that he, and we, know also has the Coordinate/Founding Titan), but instead was desperate and took it the way he did seemingly hoping to luck out that his mindless form could eat Eren since he's stuck in there with them, so maybe the abnormal Titan he turned into isn't exactly the form that was intended by that Titan juice (like how the one Eren took was specifically labeled Armor)? As such maybe at the very least it makes it more reliable.

Spoilers:

Spoiler

Kenny doesn't know either, just like us, but he is going to voice this possible theory that maybe it's because Rod did not follow the process correctly. And that it's possible that injecting it improperly (which also implies Rod's case of licking some of it up) might have been the cause of such a messed up form for Rod Reiss's Titan.

Spoiler

I think Rod mentioned it while he was talking to Historia, but it's revealed/confirmed in the trivia that the serum Rod was intending to use on Historia was labeled "Strongest Titan".

Question 2: I mean c'mon, Eren just got hit with like 4 double-whammys in a row, give the kid a break lol.

He just learned that he ate and killed his own dad, and also just recalled his memories of the event, Rod just tried to convince and/or possibly play mind games with him that his dad betrayed humanity by killing most of the royal Reiss family just for his own personal gain, and that everyone that has sacrificed themselves protecting him so far (like old Team Levi) have done so for nothing since he claims only the Reiss family can even use the full extent of this power. It was only just a few moments ago that Historia and his friends finally got their first chance to try and pull him out of it by reminding him that it's also still possible that Grisha did what he did to free humanity from its ignorant captivity, because the Reiss family that has continually passed it down has continuously failed to use the powers to save them anyway, whether or not Eren can use all of them or not, and have instead likely been purposefully contributing to the problem with the way they'd been using it and the memory wiping powers, just like Historia verbally bitch-slapped Rod about in the moment that cemented her turning against him.
