I ate a whole crepe off the ground yesterday because I dropped it and couldn't afford a new one.

Punk as fuck as that may be, that's not the image of "awesome" anybody expects to live up to.

In any event, I respect those who are smart and quirky enough to be English majors.

Always wished I had pursued that field.

You should be paid a lot more. You are worth it.

In all seriousness, as a fiction MFA graduate with currently little prospects,
I don't regret a goddamned thing,

As you shouldn't.

I think you are good people, and good people go on to great things. Something will come up for you.

You're too smart to be overlooked.

I wouldn't say too smart.
Too weird feels closer to the truth.
But too weird has its place.

Spoiler

Consider Boots Riley's film, "Sorry To Bother You," and Alex Cox's "Repo Man"
and Jim Jarmusch's "Dead Man,"
and Jodorowsky's "El Topo"

All these films that people "couldn't believe were ever made in the first place"
were made.
