OwlChemist81
In this thread, we post news from AX that might affect the future of Toonami, including possible acquisitions. First up is a title that many have suspected would be a great fit for Toonami from the Spring 2018 season: Viz Media acquires MegaloBox: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2018-07-05/viz-media-adds-smashed-junji-ito-story-collection-manga-megalobox-anime/.133827
OwlChemist81
Nothing big was announced the rest of Thursday night's panels, well not much we didn't already know, anyway. http://toonamifaithful.com/what-to-watch-for-toonami-related-panels-to-check-out-at-ax2018/ Edited July 6, 2018 by OwlChemist81
OwlChemist81
FUNimation panel just ended. No news yet regarding Attack on Titan Season 3 coming to Toonami, but it is getting a simuldub, and it has its own panel tomorrow.
3ngag3
I think Funi acquiring Gridman is news unless it was old news already.

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty huge, except that FUNi also acquired Darling In The Franxx and we've yet to see that on Toonami either. Then again, perhaps we're better off for that, even if it DOES have Toonami written all over it, it might not be good enough for the Better Cartoon Show. There isn't much precedent of Gridman, but then again, I guess you could say the same about MegaloBox. The only difference is that FUNimation has its own platform for streaming, and Viz doesn't, so MB is almost 90% certain to be Toonami bound, while Gridman is more like 60%. Jman
Gridman also has the nostalgia angle working for it.

Why do you think that? Because Trigger made it? It isn't even their own show; A-1 Pictures is co-producing it, and I've heard most of the staff typically work for them. On the other hand, Gridman('s animation, because Tsuburaya Productions is the rights holder) is all Trigger, all the time.

Also, unlike the break that we had between Parts 2 and 3, there will be no break between the end of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable! OwlChemist81
Attack on Titan panel has ended. No Toonami announcement for Season 3, BUT it will begin its simul-dub sometime in August. August 4th is when Space Dandy ends. Something would have to move down, but we could still be getting it August 11th and it could still be dub premieres. Also, keep an eye on Promare for 2019. From the director of Gurren Lagann and by Trigger. Edited July 9, 2018 by OwlChemist81
Jman
So the most likely are Megalo Box and Gridman, right? On a similar tone, Netflix picked up the rights to the Ultraman anime (from the guys that made Linebarrels of Iron) as part of their attempt at world conquest.

You really need to double-check your sources before making statements like that.
OwlChemist81
Oops, sorry. I got Imaishi mixed up with Masaaki. These Japanese names get me sometimes.
PokeNirvash
Masaaki Yuasa and Hiroyuki Imaishi are pretty distinctive from one another as far as names go, IMO. Now, confusing Shinichi Watanabe for Shinichiro Watanabe on that basis, I can understand.
