Guest The Hound
It's growing on me. When done properly it really makes fight scenes fantastic. Unpopular opinion here, but I'm a super huge fan of the Berserk reboot, starting from the first movie in 2011 I think?
Daos
I'm totally fine with it if it's done right. I don't want to watch an entire series that's not animated at all though. But for big fight scenes it's ok.
Guest The Hound
The berserk golden age movies are amazing. The series following it.... not so much
Daos
That's an example of how not to do CGI.
Guest The Hound
Yup and the worst part was there were a few fight scenes that were done properly in it. Same with how db super started off but berserk never got better lol

Daos
Berserk is a bad example though. I mean.... the fan outrage against how shitty it looked was immediate. It was bad.

Chapinator_X
I'm cool if it's background frames or items in 2D anime (like if a car, crowd, or banana needs CGI), but I'm strongly prejudiced against 3D anime and the stiffness of anime doesn't translate well with janky 3D models. I would probably enjoy it more if they were animated like RWBY where they look like video game cutscenes with fluid animation but lower res models instead of the stiff jerky movements and higher res models that anime studios went with for the Netflix 3D anime, the new Fist of the North Star, and Ronja the Robbers Daughter. EyeOfPain
The CG during the broadcast was rough for Berserk, but the direction, storyboarding, music and acting all more than made up for the deficiencies in the animation in my opinion.
Top Gun
The only fully-CG anime I've seen so far that I'd fully advocate for is Land of the Lustrous. Honestly I don't think they could have pulled off the same style in 2D.
Sandstone
Overlord has some of the best examples of well-done CGI additions. They are so good that they actually add to the scene (imo) instead of distracting from it.
Daos
Yup Overlord has CGI done pretty much perfectly.
