Went in last week to close my account but apparently they didn't actually close it just withdrew all the money so the monthly service fee hit and now there's a negative balance in the account.

If that's what you were told then you shouldn't be liable for the overage charge.

I was. And then when I logged in and saw the account history, on the day I closed the account there was a withdraw memo scanned in there for the balance of the account with the memo "Close Acct *account number*"

Should be ez peazy lemon squeezy to get it sorted out then.

It was easy enough to "close" the account the first time so hopefully not. They closed my savings account (it actually says "Closed" by that one so I know it's closed). So hopefully they're cool about fixing the mistake.

this is why i don't bank with b of a. they pulled some sketchy shit so, i closed my account.

got credit back for their 'charges'

after i closed the account, i get that dreaded 'overdraft' thingy in the mail ~the reason i closed the damn account. *and no, i didn't overdraft*

after about 3 months of battling, i got a credit back to my account for 300$ ...something like that. but it was a pain in the ass.

I got offered a regional VP position for a credit union here where I moved and I just don't know if I have it in me to go back in to banking.

I mean the teller told me he closed the account. So I shouldn't have to actually pay the fee because it's an error, right?

Right?

You shouldn’t have to pay any fee if you were told there was no longer any account a fee could be applied to

Also that teller needs a bish slap

I talked to the same teller and he was really apologetic about it he said he thought he had closed it and seems genuinely confused. Took care of the fee and gave me his card, said to call him personally if I had anymore issues.

Sounds like it was just a bizarre error of some kind

Glad to hear it’s one that can be easily fixed
