What makes a good balloon? I'm genuinely curious.

That depends on what you want out of the balloon.

For me I want a balloon that is durable enough that it stays stable even when overinflated, and has enough of a neck that you can make it look like a pear or lightbulb. I also like the balloon to feel very smooth and silky when inflated. As for colors, solid pastel colors are the best (especially lavender or sky blue), but I'm fine with just about any color. The only exception is lime green, but that's only because the dyes used to make that color limit elasticity, which makes the balloon blow up smaller than other balloons.

Also, I hate Chinese balloons. They smell AWFUL and are extremely fragile.

What made you discover you liked balloons?

I've pretty much always been fascinated with balloons to some degree. When I was a kid, I always thought balloons looked pretty and fun, but they also kinda scared me. I was a very nervous kid, and I HATED sudden loud noises. I was always very uncomfortable when balloons were around because I knew someone nearby was eventually gonna pop one and startle the shit out of me. This anxiety persisted into my teenage years, and I even still have a degree of it to this day.

As for when I started to like balloons, well:

One day when I was like 12 or 13 I got quite fed up with my fear of balloons and decided to try to get over it by popping one on purpose. I had one of those big science kits that had a 16 inch turquoise balloon in it, and I decided I was gonna try to blow it up until it popped. I blew it up until the neck started to bulge, but the thought of it popping in my face scared the shit out of me so I chickened out and tied it off. I then figured that maybe sitting on the balloon would be a less scary way to pop it, so I carefully sat down on it and began to bounce a bit. At first it was still nerve wracking, but I soon noticed that it also felt kinda nice. As I kept going, I became less focused on my unease with the risk of the balloon popping and more focused on how bouncing on it felt really good. Around the time the balloon finally popped, something else "popped" with it. Ever since that day, I've had quite a thing for balloons. <.<;;

That is very interesting. I'm intrigued....a balloon.....i never thought one could derive such pleasure from a balloon....the intricacies of the human brain know no end

I know, right? The brain is quite the amazing thing.

And frankly, I'm glad my brain decided to make balloons a thing. I wouldn't trade this for anything. I love it.
