Yeah one would hope the co-productions with Crunchyroll can still go through. Those contracts still have to be honored, right, or do they go up in smoke when the company is bought out? I'm not sure how this stuff works. If Sony owns both Funimation and Crunchyroll, then yeah, their streaming services would be redundant, right? They wouldn't keep running both of them separately, would they? But why would they get rid of the Funimation one instead of the Crunchyroll one? Toonami already has a good relationship with Funimation and Aniplex, who are both owned by Sony, so there is that. Here is Demarco's Twitter post and thread on this. I'll have to dig through it more later.

So fucking creepy. And so heartbreaking. Interesting how there are seemingly rich demons, and only they get to eat these kids.

I never watch Adult Swim during the week anymore. I'm sure there are plenty of others who only tune in for Toonami, so they'd have no idea this marathon was playing tonight.

Japanese Hentai Is Now Banned in Australia
ben0119 replied to MasqueradeOverture's topic in Anime & Manga
Well as we all know, the Southern Hemisphere of the Earth is the EVIL side. -
Oh I see. Well that is unfortunate. Well there is less risk of copyright strikes from a game. Those types of mobile games with predatory monetization shouldn't be supported, and really phones are not ideal for gaming anyway. At least in my opinion. Whoo my phone is still nice and fresh lol. Samsung Galaxy S10+ Great for videos, pics, and other things. ANYWAY. I'm sure you haven't forgotten how Hollows work, but there is no "Hollow invasion" that I am aware of, there will always be Hollows because any soul can be at risk of turning into a Hollow, particularly the ones with regrets from their past life. Taken from the Bleach wiki and seems to jive with what I remember of how Hollows work - https://bleach.fandom.com/wiki/Hollow Hollows are a race of creatures which are born from Human souls who, for various reasons, do not cross over to Soul Society after their death and stay in the Human World for too long. They are corrupt spirits with supernatural powers which devour the souls of both living and deceased Humans. Hollows settle in Hueco Mundo, but can cross over to the Human World and Soul Society. Hollows are the opposite of Humans. Hollow are former Pluses (deceased Human souls) who lose their hearts to despair or regret, or they remain in the Human World for too long. Any spirit who is not guided to Soul Society by a Shinigami via Konsō may eventually turn into a Hollow. Now does any of that sound like something that would be peculiar to Japan? No. People live everywhere on the earth and die everywhere on the Earth, so there has to be Hollows and therefor Soul Reapers patrolling the entire Earth. We know that Sasakibe was stationed in England at one point, which is why he dresses and acts the way he does, he took an appreciation of the English society or something. So that right there is proof (not that it should be needed), that there ought to be Hollows and Soul Reapers in London. But again, Wing Bind, which is part of Soul Society, doesn't seem to employ any Soul Reapers, and the Witches and Wizards don't seem too concerned with Hollows. I highly doubt that. They look and behave nothing like Hollows. They seem to just be a kind of supernatural creature. And the Wizards and Witches don't hunt them, except for those seven super bad ones which HAVE to be killed because of how dangerous they are. The other ones are conserved and managed. It is the equivalent of relocating a crocodile or lion. The Witches and Wizards are conservationists. Soul Reapers just take out Hollows on the spot. So yeah no way they are Hollows or some form of Hollows. Again there is no way these things are Hollows or even related to them. I think the same thing. The Bleach connection feels very thrown in. The two worlds don't mesh at all. Yeah that could be it. Another reason I heard people give was he threw the Bleach connection in because he was afraid it wouldn't be successful enough as its own thing, which I don't agree with, that that is the reason Kubo did it, or that the series needs a Bleach connection to succeed. But like you said I'm not sure Kubo even planned or anticipated for the series to get picked up and go beyond the one shot, which I tend to agree with. So yeah I think either way I'm not sure it was meant to be connected and the sign thing was thrown in just as a tribute. "Dragon Clad" sounds like some sort of badass character with dragon powers, but Balgo is just a blundering oaf. Unless he is secretly a badass too, like their boss, but I doubt that. Or maybe we will find out that Balgo is just a failure of a Dragon Clad. Then again that horn he had turned into a sword for a little while? Maybe that will lead to something?

Inuyasha sequel Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon
ben0119 replied to HardcoreHunter's topic in Anime & Manga
What the heck? Are they really going to recast everyone? That would be awful. Sure, the original characters probably won't be in the show that much, but still. Even for that 1st episode it would have been nice to have them all back. But all we were given were the voices of Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha. Maybe there is still hope for the old cast. Although, since Monica Stori has fallen off the face of the Earth, and Kira Tozer didn't do such a stellar job in Final Act, I would not mind a new VA for Kagome.- 102 replies

Inuyasha sequel Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon
ben0119 replied to HardcoreHunter's topic in Anime & Manga
Ep 5 - So now I am hearing the woman that is trapped in the tree is Rin and not Kagome? That's not as dumb as Kagome being trapped in there, but still pretty dumb! There's that owl again. LOL Setsuna doesn't want Towa to come with her. Son of Tokatsu. I thought that was one of the Seven Man Army members at first, but it's not. He does remind me of one them, though. But, this guy is a demon. Haha called him a bishounen! The Four Perils. And they are Kirinmaru's minions. If they defeat them then Kirinmaru will show up, then they have to defeat him, then Sesshomaru will show up and they have to defeat him? Why do they have to fight Sesshomaru? It makes no sense. And Myoga didn't think the story about Kirinmaru sounded right. I don't know if we can trust the Tree of Ages, IF that is actually the Tree of Ages who sent them on this quest. Purification salt. Not bad. Didn't Miroku used to use that? That rouge make-up is a gift from Inuyasha's father to Inuyasha's mother, it revives Toga's memories and Moroha gets a power up? But she can only go like this for one minute and then she is out for a day. Ah so it sounds like it really was Moroha that decapitated Tokotsu. Maybe she forgot she did it because she used that make-up? Also the red rainbow pearl came from Tokotsu. She stole it from him. Not sure how Setsuna and Towa got theirs, then. Even with the power up from the rouge, this guy seemed like a pushover for one of the FOUR PERILS. Unfortunately no remains means no reward. But at least it seems like this racoon character won't be as major of a character as we feared. Was awesome to see super powered Iron Reaver and Blades of Blood, though. Wow what a tease. That preview was of a brief flashback. Setsuna came across a traveling monk. But why is Miroku traveling and not raising his children? And where is Sango?! Towa, you can't be that soft in this world. Showing respect to the demons though. Wtf. Did Miroku ever do that? That next preview haha. Another bounty. This is almost like a videogame. But so was the first show lol.- 102 replies

Man, people really seem to hate Mineta from MHA...
ben0119 replied to CorbeauKarasu's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Seconded what Daos and Jman said about Miroku. He is nothing like Mineta. Mineta has no redeeming qualities. And if Mineta is the author's insert character that is pretty pathetic. Then again there is that interview talking about the girls with the author and the anime's character designer and comes off as pretty pervy. Unfortunately it appears the person who had posted that interview had their twitter suspended. Actually it looks like what happened is, someone posted a picture collage comparing the girls' manga and anime versions. That person got suspended for some unknown reason, and the other user who replied with the scan of that interview, I guess their tweet got deleted when the OP had their account suspended. And comicbook.com didn't separately embed/quote them. Annoying. I don't suppose Wayback Machine works for Twitter? I remember saving the picture/scan of the interview, but probably didn't rename it, so it is just whatever it was randomly labeled by Twitter, and on my old computer, which isn't hooked up right now, and I wasn't able to get everything off of it, yet. I need more flash drives, and I was unaware that you can't store both large and small files on the same flash drives, because then it will tell you the large files are too big if formatted for smaller files, or the small files end up taking up a lot of extra space when you format for large files. Here I was able to find it. Looks like the interview was longer than just what that Twitter user posted. I wish I could find this somewhere else than this Amino site. That site is really obnoxious and has way too much shit cluttering the page. https://aminoapps.com/c/bnha-boku-no-hero-academia/page/blog/entrevista-a-kohei-horikoshi-y-yoshihiko-umakoshi-character-book/PJzv_QLgUmuN43VQ1QEwJ6r5zealErELxqR Here is the pertinent section. I am hoping a possible rough translation makes this conversation sound worse than it is lol. I personally don't like using the term "meat" since it makes me think more of food, and, yeah. I don't like to put those two thoughts together. Do you like slightly chubby women !? - Horikoshi-sensei, some of your drawings impressed you enough to say "wow, that's how it looks" Horikoshi: Uraraka Ochako's, the arms, legs and torso areas of the girls tend to be a bit thick / plump, this is a bit apart, but I like them with a good figure and a little more meat (laughs) Umakoshi: That's just another charm point, I guess you could say it's an appeal that's different from most heroines these days ... I wanted to draw her with that trend too, but she ended up skinny anyway. Horikoshi: But her rear sight (͡ ° ͜ʖ ͡ °) still has an adequate amount of sensuality despite being slim, which I think is pretty cool. Umakoshi: That reaction reminds me, I was thinking that surprisingly, the grade of meat I gave to Ashido came out quite well. Horikoshi: She came out amazing too, if you know what I mean. Once during my work I took to looking at their character models with my staff, and the first comment that came out of everyone's mouth was "this good" (laughs) Umakoshi: She came out quite voluptuous, right? oops ... i wasn't even aware of it, i was just going for your comments ... Horikoshi: Oh no, actually, I'm thankful! Here is the quote of the excerpt from Twitter that got deleted. This version doesn't sound as bad. They still say "meat," though. Eh. I like the look of Horikoshi's girls and would have preferred had they looked more like their manga counterparts, but I wish he and the anime character designer wouldn't say "meat." “The arms, legs, and torso areas of the girls I drew tend to be a little on the plump full-bodied side. This is a bit of an unseemly aside, but I like well-built girls with a little meat on them,” the artist said. “That’s just another charm point,” Umakoshi answered. “I guess you could say it’s an appeal that’s different from most heroines these days. I meant to draw her [in the anime] with that tendency of yours in mind, too, but she ended up slim anyway.” It's annoying me that I cannot find the original good translation of this interview. Maybe you have to buy the physical book to read it, since I can't find it online anywhere. I think it came from some character book. Sesshomaru is basically Rin's father. That's not a pairing. I thought I had heard somewhere that Takahashi hated the pairing, but now I can't find it. All I'm seeing coming up is forum threads of people arguing about it. Don't think I will jump down that rabbit hole. Either way, it would be Woody Allen-levels if it becomes official. Yuck. -
Maybe I ought to read the manga one of these days. Just so much stuff to watch/read/play! I do know that the scene with Noelle freaking out about Sally wearing Asta's clothes and saying she could do whatever she wanted with his body was in the manga, since I have seen that part. So I would say the tsundere-ness and jealousy is not completely gone.

I see that now. I thought that button was just for making a generic tweet and didn't realize it would tweet to that person. It is in a separate section from where the person's account page is, on the left hand side of the page They must have moved some things around. I sent the tweet and this is what I wrote - So is Black Clover taking a hiatus until more episodes can be dubbed by Funimation? Will it be back? The show was taken off without any announcement whatsoever, which is odd given the series has been on Toonami for 3 years. Yeah I don't get it at all. I can see if they weren't able to make an announcement for TV given current working conditions, but they should have been able at least post something in simple text or picture form online. Yeah that is really odd. Maybe they weren't able to make that in time because of covid. Or maybe they assume everyone will assume it won't be the usual schedule because it's Halloween. But at the same time, Halloween parties and Trick or Treating are being discouraged and with good reason, right now. At most all people will do is stay at home and watch horror movies, which is what a lot of people have already been doing. So it's not like that many less people would be watching the block. I don't think it's a buy for time again since they took Black Clover off, and they probably waited until all the SAO episodes were dubbed so they didn't have a repeat of what happened with MHA and JoJo. So I don't see the logic for the marathon, much less the logic for not even announcing it on TV.

Hollywood rumored to be eyeing live action Black Clover
ben0119 replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I remember when the Bleach movie was announced, the American one. It never did come out. Later on Kubo revealed he kept fucking around with things that caused it to be delayed until that studio lost the rights to be able to make the movie, because he saw how they were going to screw it up. https://comicbook.com/anime/news/bleach-hollywood-live-action-adaptation-bad-reasoning/ Though I can't really say I have kept track of movies coming out years after the fact that are similar to originally announced adaptations. Which movies are you talking about? -
Hollywood rumored to be eyeing live action Black Clover
ben0119 replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Dude, how many times does it have to be mentioned that Black Clover is not exactly 100% deathly serious at all times? You might as well go by the logic of a certain dunderhead that used to post on ASMB that said any time Looney Tunes style violence happened in a show, complete with goofy art shifts in some cases, was ABUSE. Like Winrey hitting Ed with her wrench. It is ham-fisted intentionally for comedic purposes. A lot of people think it's cute and funny how Noelle acts. People like the type of character that puts up a rough exterior and acts like they don't like a person when in fact they're actually nice and do like said person, or people. There's a reason tsundere characters are so popular. Noelle is just an extreme version of this type of character, like many of the Black Clover characters. And maybe you didn't watch the video I posted, but she is tsundere to other characters too, not just Asta, it's just more extreme in his case. Man, now you really make it hard for me to take you seriously when you are trying to put Naruto's relationships over Black Clover. This has even been discussed and compared multiple times here. Naruto and Sasuke's relationship isn't even properly built up. It consists of Naruto and Sasuke being little shits to each other, three whole "friendship moments" that the show constantly refers back to, and the characters constantly saying they're best friends. It just makes Naruto come off as crazy that he is so obsessed with trying to "rescue Sasuke from himself" (an asshole character who was never even sympathetic,) or that Naruto is gay (or possibly bi, since he also liked Sakura, and ends up with Hinata,) since their relationship came off more as casual coworkers who were friendly with each other, then Naruto loses his shit because this coworker he wasn't even on that good of terms with transfers to another location. Also Sasuke is a traitor, and we're supposed to think Naruto and Sakura are in the right, and that that the people who want to hunt him down and kill or imprison Sasuke are wrong LOL. Bleach's Komamura and Tosen were better done and more convincing as 2 friends who had their friendship destroyed than Naruto and Sasuke, and those are side characters. Asta and Yuno are better best friends/brothers than Naruto in Sasuke in like the first few episodes than Naruto and Sasuke are over the course of entirety of what Toonami has aired up to this point. Hell, Kishimoto even admitted he is bad at writing women because he said he can't relate to them, and he made that awful statement about how Sakura can't change her mind about wanting to be with Sasuke. Sasuke, who tried told her to fuck off and tried to kill her multiple times. It was ridiculous. But sure, put that asshole over. Of course not, but it sure as hell doesn't hurt, does it? And it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for something that could actually happen in a real relationship. Like I said, a lot of people find that entertaining, the harem hijinks, or whatever you want to call them. -
I made it a while back and posted it before, can't remember where. I was surprised at how hard it was to find a good picture of Kirito being smug lmao. Yeah *sigh,* when I said how much I liked the last set of episodes, I neglected to mention that scene haha.

Yeah something like that, or Johnny Yong Bosch couldn't return to voice one of his characters for whatever reason. So that is the reason. Why is it easier for VAs to appear for companies now when it was difficult for them in the past? I can't imagine the union stuff loosening up. I don't know if using different stage names like some VAs did was a way to get around this. I never was clear on how all that worked, except that the VAs seemed to be segregated from each other and it wasn't just one big pool. Location would obviously be less of an issue in more recent years. Oh I didn't realize that lol. I never watched AO, though. I heard it was bad. Neither ASA or Toonami ever got AO either, maybe for that reason. Oh were they already together beforehand? haha.

I barely use Twitter at all. How do you tweet at Demarco? Do you just write a tweet and put their tag in it? I thought there used to be a button on a person's profile to tweet them. Yeah it is dumb. They should know by now it's only going to cause worry and confusion if they don't say anything!

I wrote the response to this video but forgot to post it. Oh well, better later than never. Wow, an anime Youtuber who actually isn't obnoxious. But why is he showing random game footage instead of stuff from the show he is talking about? And Genshin Impact, at that! A mobile game that has been getting whored out on YouTube in ads a lot lately. Do not be seduced by its anime-esque style! It is made by CHINA and has transactions up to a hundred dollars! *ahem* Anyway. This is someone else who I wish would give citations. Last I heard this is a short or limited series of sorts. Kubo had said the series was already done and would release on its own while he sits at home playing Animal Crossing. The guy in this video says it is a seasonal manga and Kubo will work on it, take breaks, and come back to it. I agree that is probably how manga should be made, so mangaka aren't worked to death. This should also put to rest the narrative some were trying to spin that Kubo was blacklisted or would never work in manga or with Shonen Jump again. Not only has Kubo been brought back, but they are basically letting him work whenever he feels like it, basically. If that isn't a sign of someone with some cachet, I don't know what is. But again, I would like to have a source for this. That this will continue and that Kubo can work at a steady and comfortable pace is great news. I saw the similarities to Harry Potter, but not How to Train Your Dragon. That was a primitive Viking village. But yes, the whole hidden magical side of the world, protecting the normies, I loved it! I think this guy is reading way too much into the designs at outfits. They wear those mini-capes (I believe they are called mantles, and Black Clover also has them,) to keep warm while flying high in the sky? Umm, Noel is wearing a skirt, and Ninny has something between underwear and shorts. I actually don't know what those are called. As for the spiked headbands... I am pretty sure they are just supposed to be alluding to dragon horns. And Noel has them too, not just Ninny. Well, she has one at least. The green uniforms and plaid/flannel(did not know there was a difference,) are probably just to look cool. They also give off a British feeling, though more Scottish to me than English. Regardless, I agree that the characters look cool/good.

Did you misread what I said? I said shouldn't. Not that it isn't. I explained it before. This series has this whole other supernatural phenomenon going on that seems to have no connection to Hollows or any of the other creatures or things that went on in Bleach. We get a narration saying that Dragons were once responsible for 72% of the deaths in London. This figure makes no sense, but ignoring the number, it is basically saying that mysterious deaths and even some thought of as normal, Dragons were in fact responsible for. Early in Bleach we were told things like, a husband or wife dies, and then the other spouse dies shortly after, Rukia said in many cases it was because they turned into a Hollow and killed their former spouse. Now we have a whole other organization and faction in London to deal with these Dragons, with their own powers and fighting system. It may as well be a different universe. Are we really supposed to believe Hollows are only a problem in Japan? That makes no sense. People die everywhere, people have to be escorted to Soul Society so that they don't turn into Hollows. Soul Reapers are Grim Reapers, that is their main function. But this Wing Bind which is referred to as Soul Society West Branch doesn't seemed at all concerned with dealing with Hollows, and only deals with Dragons. And indeed, they all seem to be human and not dead people like the Soul Reapers. So, who is taking care of the souls and Hollows in London? Where is it said this takes place 15 years after Bleach? I don't want Bleach characters coming in because they are going to overshadow the Burn the Witch characters and this new world and story. And as I said, it makes more sense for the worlds to be separate than connected anyway.

Inuyasha sequel Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon
ben0119 replied to HardcoreHunter's topic in Anime & Manga
Yes exactly. And isn't pretty unusual for people to even have sex that young in Japan anyways? Like I mean, peers that are teens. Well it kind of already is an isekai. It is inspired a bit by Alice in Wonderland. Kagome falls down a hole into this whole other world. The series is literally called "InuYasha: A Feudal Fairy Tail." I'm not sure what you're getting at as far as the "bullshit." People in Japan used to believe in all these mythological creatures, stories, and legends. Kagome's grandfather still does and has all those knicknacks. Then Kagome goes back in time and finds out they're real and Grandpa wasn't full of it after all. Yes indeed. That may be how it works here, but it's hard to tell. Like I said before, it was never brought up as an issue in the original series, so it's odd this show is doing it. Maybe it is pointless babbling, but we have the whole plot about Towa being captured and interrogating her about her history book. Then again that could end up just leading to nothing and was just used as a way to introduce Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha. We should be catching up to that part of the flash forward soon. Yes it is one of those, it's what I have seen in various documentaries, and it makes the most sense. Which means that Dragon Ball had the most scientifically accurate version of time travel all this time. Who knew Toriyama was such a scientific genius?- 102 replies

Hahaha, to reply to that other post sort of as well, I think this might be the same clip used for the original Japanese announcement, just with the English voiceovers. Then again not really sure if that helps justify the tentacle clip being used lol. Nice to hear some teases of those epic moments in English. I can't wait! And let's face it, we all knew SAO was returning eventually!
