Yes but we all know Toonami wanted Crystal. They typically go after the most current version of whatever thing they're after. This is why they got Kai instead of the original DBZ, and only had OG Naruto for 50 episodes as a stopgap til they could get Shippuden.

I remember when I first saw Majin Buu. His appearance was so unexpected. He was a bit unassuming, not traditionally scary or evil looking, but he was so weird and creepy. It was a surreal reveal for sure.
