  1. So, Demarco plays Sean Schemmel's horrendous rendition of Dragon Soul in its entirety, but cuts this show's awesome one just because Kai is the first show. Gotta love his logic.
  2. I liked when Krillin called Yajirobe itchy robe in of the old dubs. Roshi. "Not me?" Lol. Aww. Roshi SHOULD still train though! You can always learn new things!
  3. Destroying the moon won't cause any problems for the Earth at all. So they censor Bulma shooting them, but still shown the bullet marks and her holding the gun. Krillin stronger than Roshi, the student has surpassed the master. Roshi is MUCH OLDER than 139?! Just how old is he?!
  4. Tsundere Piccolo. Apples and mountains make me think of BotW. Also this weird type of landscape with tall narrow formations like you see in Dragon Ball actually exists somewhere in the world, but I can't remember where. It's like Toriyama was so busy doing running gag of Chichi being a tiger mother he forgot to make he likable. Unless he made her unlikable on purpose. At least she seemed to soften up after Goku died to Cell, but that seems to be forgotten by Super. Ok so Goku messing around with the ogres in HFIL, I mean, Hell, is supposed to be filler, but what about this little part where he almost gets dragged down into a vortex by shadows? How does that jive with the personal Hell we know exists in Super? Presumably Goku would get no food or fighting in his own personal Hell, where Frieza had to deal with cute happy critters.
  5. I think Al should be officially booted off the board for that one!
  6. On-demand to the rescue! I didn't have to dig around for the eps online! Any particular reason Shino is wearing that visor? I thought we had established that Boruto WASN'T a dumbass like Naruto was at first? So why now does he think he can summon something just like that? Is that really Konohamaru? He looks more like a younger Sarutobe than he does an older Konohamaru. And I hope the genius ninja Shino was referring to Sarutobe and not Konohamaru. Unless this is supposed to explain how he learned the Rasengan so easily, which was bullshit. He has fangirls hahaha. Frogs aren't reptiles. Man the designs of those randoms are so bad. All this over a yakisoba bun. What is that exactly? And fights between ninja academy students are forbidden? Why? And since when? HOW DO YOU FORBID FIGHTS IN A SHONEN? It's n-not like we like each other or anything, baka. Girls vs. Boys, this should end well... Going with the girls don't like "gross" animals/bugs cliche, eh... A snake? Odd that Boruto would go for Orochimaru's favorite... Yeah their dads were totally "friends" lol. Unless I misheard and he said parents, so include the mothers in that, then yes, at least Naruto's friendships with Sakura and Hinata were believable. But not Sasuke, and Sasuke himself was a friend to nobody but himself. Boruto and Denki's voices are too similar. It gets confusing sometimes. I think it's unfair letting the older kid compete. Why did Denki stop? Water melts the ink. Good job Boruto! Sarada is best at shurikens... wooo. And I think he Uchiha bloodline should have ended, and Sakura's too, for that matter. ...Did she even have a last name? But maybe Sarada won't be a terrible character like her parents. We'll see. I won't let everyone's deaths be in vain. How was Boruto able to summon that thing? And just what the hell was it? It didn't look like just a snake. More like some kind of chimera. Makes me think of Zabimaru. The original beast form, not the filler one. So... he probably didn't summon it. The flag probably blew up with everything else. Nevermind. A rain check because Boruto saved Chocho from danger? But Boruto CAUSED the danger. At least far as they know anyway. Well, that episode wasn't too bad. A valuable lesson was learned! I hate to imagine what a Kishimoto-written version would have looked like. The girls did end up winning because the boys did something stupid cliche, though.
  7. I know, so why are they in the filler? IT'S A TRAP! I know, I love Yukino! T.T I know haha, I was just saying, going by the OP stuff, and that one episode that was half filler arc wrap-up and half canon arc start-up, they seemingly did a good job tying it in? May be worth going back and watching when I get caught up. Also, how did the anime writers know that Mashima wouldn't use those characters? Because Edolas stuff keeps coming up in canon.
  8. Yeah, it's been a good build, good mystery so far. And I like Eugeo and Kirito's interactions with him.
  9. Episode 3 - You mean to tell me these assholes programmed a plague into this world? So they do have child nuns, and they learn sacred arts, basically magic. When Eugeo said that not just anyone can use such high level sacred arts, because they use more sacred power, is that because they don't want that energy getting used up and only qualified people are cleared to use those spells, or simply the difficulty of using the spells? Also looks like I was right that Terreria is an Earth-based deity, and Solus is likely the Sun-based deity. THAT FUCKING TREE. So it's not quite an Excalibur situation. The sword just plain heavy to everyone, including Eugeo. But, it seems to prefer Eugeo to Kirito? You MISSED again, Kirito, and got thrown back this time, haha. "Authority," Kirito's is lower than the sword. Hmm. Nice swordsmanship pointers Kirito is giving to Eugeo here. "Integrity" Knights letting goblins run wild? Hmm. Uhh, if you keep panning the camera further, you're going to reveal Kirito's package. Yes trying to inhibit AI always backfires. Maybe someone is getting some sick pleasure out of having this Taboo Index being in Underworld. Eugeo hasn't smiled since Alice was taken away. T__T Selka is her own person and it's not her fault that Alice is gone. T__T So Selka left her own room, and Kirito didn't think anything of that? Or was she waiting in his room? Well, surely when she said she wouldn't wake him up anymore, and her thinking about the End Mountains? YOU AND YOUR BIG MOUTH, KIRITO. What did you THINK would happen? Eugeo is a good tracker, it turns out. System Call, but to Eugeo it's just a command for using a spell. Still, you think the programmers would have used different commands than that. Maybe they think there's no way anyone who only knew Underworld would ever figure out it's a virtual world. So there are goblins after all. But these are in the ice cave to the north. I thought Eugeo said they were to the south? Maybe they caught Selka on the road. The goblins speak?! Can't say I expected that. And they're super creepy! Selling girls and eating boys! What did they call them, White Iums? So Iums are humans, and do they consider Kirito and Eugeo white? But Kirito is Asian. He is light-skinned though. Maybe such distinctions don't matter to goblins, or there aren't Asians in Underworld. Yeah I'm probably reading way too much into this, but still. Ah hell, Eugeo froze up. But they have no weapons anyway! I like the sound of next ep's title. Let's finally get out of this one horse town!
  10. Who's ready to get on their knees for Queen Historia?
  11. I got it to embed! And that's disturbing! And stop remaking and adapting everything and putting the Rock in it, damn it!
  12. What's even more disturbing about Mineta is that he is a perverted character who looks like a child. I assume it's because of his quirk for some unknown reason? But still, that was a conscious choice that the mangaka made. What's more, he's extremely annoying and seemingly has no redeeming qualities. Why does he even exist? Though, it's quite a big class. I have a feeling not all students will "make the cut," if a movie is made.
  13. Found it! https://thedaoofdragonball.com/blog/news/dragonball-evolution-writer-apologizes-to-fans/ https://thedaoofdragonball.com/blog/news/dragonball-evolution-original-script-discovered/ https://thedaoofdragonball.com/blog/news/ben-ramsey-replies-to-dragon-ball-fans/ That original script! And hey, at least the fighters were actually flying around and throwing fireballs and stuff? There was a transforming Capsule vehicle. The cast wasn't completely white-washed. I mean, Yamcha, was perfect. Just the right amount of douche! It could've been way worse! I think the higher ups are more to blame for the movie than the the writer, though. Apparently they kept changing the script and making it crappier and crappier. I think the guy on this website gives Toriyama waaaay too much credit, though. And nobody working on or adapting Dragon Ball content should be trying to "commit to how Akira Toriyama thinks," at least not now, since he doesn't even seem to understand his own world or characters anymore. But, we apparently have Evolution to thank for Super's existence! So yay! I kept thinking there was one, but I must be thinking of videogame movies. Mortal Kombat, the first one, that movie was good, and got it right. There's a few other good videogame movies, too.
  14. I'm surprised there's no marathon tomorrow. But I'm glad, since I hate marathons, and have no plans. I was going to go to a train show tomorrow or Sunday, but I'm not feeling up to it. I've been having trouble getting sleep lately, and was feeling like I was having bipolar manic symptoms that my meds weren't controlling. Been going on for a few weeks now. My psychiatrist retired, then my new one ended up moving to California. I didn't get set up with another one because everything was going fine at the time and my regular doctor could just prescribe the meds as usual. Still no psychiatrist at my clinic, but I'm going to see a nurse practitioner psychiatrist who my therapist said knows what she is doing, on Monday. Thankfully was able to come in sooner because originally I was going to have to wait until November 5th!
  15. I'm surprised there's no marathon either. But I'm not complaining lol. I hate marathons. You're never going to get off that Hellsing Halloween marathon idea, are you?
  16. Eh, are you sure about that? I can find no evidence for this claim, and it certainly doesn't seem to be the case from what we see in the show. Wait... According to Toonami's creative director Jason DeMarco, Alternative was designed to be a prequel to the FLCL series. This is shown with little details such as Haruko not having her signature yellow Vespa or the metal bracelet on her wrist that tracks Atomsk's power. The Gainax Ending is actually a very loose set up for what was originally going to be the first series, complete with Haruko getting the Vespa and seeing a power akin to Atomsk's. It was meant to tie into an unused story concept in the original that the town of Mabase would've actually been on Mars the entire time. However, there's nothing within the series itself that confirms when it takes place in the timeline. I really don't see how it was meant to be a prequel. I mean, Mars is orbiting the Earth, now! This only muddies the waters even more!
  17. Interesting. The times, they are a-changing. At least now Toonami will have a whole other library of shows to play with. @elfie I thought Crunchyroll was mainly a subs thing. Edit - Also guess this means Mob Psycho 100 isn't on Funimation Now anymore. So I missed watching it there when I had the chance, but I'll enjoy watching it more with everyone else on Toonami.
  18. Nice thread (in the making.) Where is everyone tonight? Thought maybe I got the day or time wrong. I have been out of it lately. Surprised no one went for the Mob Psycho 100 thread yet.
  19. It's a bad genre, mostly, yeah, but the arguments I've seen against the sexual content specifically seem hypocritical to me.
  20. Tokyo Ghoul was way late which is why, despite its rank in the Toonami show request polls, we figured they'd never get it. But... then they did. I don't know if they either couldn't get it, or passed it over for other things, but apparently since the fans asked for it, they "had" to get it. Ugh.
  21. From what I understand the Dimension W anime was squashed down from like 90 chapters of manga or something. So maybe it would have been better if it had more room to breathe. But, the story and concept was still silly, regardless of pacing. And at the time, the manga wasn't even licensed, so that should tell you something. This review nails it pretty well - https://anitay.kinja.com/dimension-w-the-anitay-review-1773744938 But yeah, simuldubs are a big gamble. Demarco has dropped the ball on not getting shows fast enough, hopefully that will improve.
  22. Black Clover Page 44 Discussion Last time on Black Clover, the Black Knights set to battling the High Priest's mages in a game to determine who would win the Magic Stone. The first were pushovers who got one-shotted! The Black Bulls are ranked as juniors, but are much stronger than their rank suggests! Maybe if they behaved better and had better reputations they'd be ranked higher! Yami was disqualified for being too strong, and was having almost as much fun as the High Priest watching the games! We learned one of the mages was Kahono, who dropped the bomb that Noelle has been controlling her magic just fine, but that she subconsciously misses on purpose because she doesn't want to hurt people. Asta fought a guy who was able to counter his anti-magic with dancing?! But, just as things were getting good, Eye of the Midnight Sun showed up to ruin the party! How will things shake out from here? Find out tonight, on Black Clover, on Toonami!
  23. Same here, though I won't always call something that's reviled a guilty pleasure, though that's certainly the case in some cases. I can see a show I like being bad or a guilty pleasure, or good, or a show I dislike being a good, and just something that isn't for me, and also bad and possibly a guilty pleasure or something I watch to riff on. I mean, does anyone seriously think Naruto is high caliber writing and story telling? I liked it though, at least Part 1. But going back, even the good parts weren't as good as I remember, and the canon story becomes only worse as it progresses. I don't like Mad Men, but I can see its quality and appeal. I loved Water World and don't agree it is bad. I loved Star Trek Generations and was baffled upon finding out it was a 50/50 polarizing film online years later. I do recall the audience groaning when they said in the movie that this wouldn't be the last ship called Enterprise.
  24. Exactly. Very generic and formulaic looking. Yep. It can't be an FLCL series and not be held to that high standard. It's already been terraformed, yeah. It still could have looked more like itself, more red - the brown parts lacking in vegetation on Earth would be red on Mars, for example. And we don't know how far in the future it is. I'd argue even further than Progressive, where Amarao's son is an adult with a daughter, and which already had a giant space station made by humans for immigration and "lost and found." So it's not really far-fetched. Like I said though, poorly communicated visually, where anime is a visual medium, that's kind of important to get right.
  25. I don't care what anyone else thinks. It doesn't affect how I feel about a show. I like what I like and dislike what I dislike. You should have recognized that by now with how you've seen me voice my thoughts on anime, manga, and entertainment in general over the years. That goes for everything. And people are free to their opinions, I just find it baffling that people would prefer Alternative, though I can see its appeal and do like it myself, just not nearly as much as Progressive.
