If only Darth Jar Jar could have happened! Yeah. I liked the directions it took. Star Wars can't just be doing the same shit over and over. This movie takes it in bold, fresh directions. Rey being a nobody reinforces that anyone can have the Force, and it means that Rey is important because of who she is and what she does, not who she is related to or where she came from. It's arguably set up by the conversation with Maz in TFA, among other scenes. Luke sees in Kylo that he will destroy everything he built, and cause great pain and suffering. Out of instinct he thinks of stopping it, realizing his mistake after it's too late. It hearkens back to Anakin seeing that Padme will die, but he ends up causing it. It's the danger of trusting these visions. Or when Luke almost killed Vader in anger. It's more interesting that Kylo turned because of this than he just he betrayed Luke for power or some other generic evil reason. Luke, thinking he can only do more harm than good, removes himself from the equation, and only gets more disillusioned when he learns how flawed the Jedi were. He ultimately realizes he is wrong and that he and the Jedi still have something to offer, despite their mistakes, and sacrifices himself in the way most befitting a Jedi, saving the Resistance without striking a single blow. About the only thing I was a bit disappointed with at first, was Luke dying and not having an actual fight. But when I thought more about it, it made sense for the story and his character. I got a kick out of Snoke getting offed. People wanted to know his backstory, but I never heard anyone say what he would do in the present story that would be interesting. Now Kylo is free to become the ruler of the Galaxy with no one to answer to, as Vader never did. People say he is emotionally unstable... that's what makes him so dangerous. The movie is about failure, and it shows what happens when the heroes' plans don't work and how they deal with it and learn from it. Rey fails, Poe fails, Luke fails, Finn and Rose fail. The Resistance is in way worse shape than the Rebellion was at the end of Empire, though they took a lot of the First Order with them, too. It destroys the illusion of safety and luck. Though, luck doesn't exist in Star Wars.

There's also partially nude characters like Namor the Sub-mariner. And does it really matter if skin is showing when the outfits are that tight? Are you gonna claim Catwoman's bodysuit isn't sexy? Most male characters have the tight costumes as well. And I mean... Spider-man has some poses that are supposed to show how flexible and agile he is, but well... many of the positions he gets in are easily as awkward as the women's.

I loved The Last Jedi, but I don't care to argue about that for the umpteenth time. Anyway, I wasn't talking about people who didn't like the movie in general. I agree with most of this, but that new She-ra cartoon looks like shit. She doesn't even look like a woman, with narrow hips and wide shoulders, and a flat chest. It implies that femininity is weak, which isn't exactly very feminist! And She-ra's boobs aren't that big, certainly not by today's standards! Also implying there can't be any busty heroines, is hypocritical when we're supposedly not supposed to be disqualifying any body types or features from being represented these days. The He-man reboot was done well. Something in the vein of that would be cool. But, I probably just won't watch this. I hadn't thought about the new She-ra since the original announcement at all until now.

STOP adding -gate to everything! It only made sense for Watergate because that was the actual name of the fucking thing - the building Nixon's men tried to break into. It also implies that a bunch of anime fans whining is anywhere near as big deal as Watergate. And, what Angel said.

Yeah, and there's barely any Naruto x Hinata moments. Hell, Hinata is barely in the show at all! Sasuke x Sakura is based on a childhood crush... that turned serious? But Sasuke never returned the feelings? It's funny too, I almost feel like there was some self-awareness when Itachi asked Naruto why he is so obsessed with his brother, and Sasuke asked why Naruto is so fixated on him in this episode. Everyone else thinks Naruto is nuts. The sad thing is we are supposed to think Naruto is right, and everyone else just doesn't understand and are against the star-crossed lovers, I mean... "best friends torn apart."
