  1. What's even more disturbing about Mineta is that he is a perverted character who looks like a child. I assume it's because of his quirk for some unknown reason? But still, that was a conscious choice that the mangaka made. What's more, he's extremely annoying and seemingly has no redeeming qualities. Why does he even exist? Though, it's quite a big class. I have a feeling not all students will "make the cut," if a movie is made.
  2. Found it! https://thedaoofdragonball.com/blog/news/dragonball-evolution-writer-apologizes-to-fans/ https://thedaoofdragonball.com/blog/news/dragonball-evolution-original-script-discovered/ https://thedaoofdragonball.com/blog/news/ben-ramsey-replies-to-dragon-ball-fans/ That original script! And hey, at least the fighters were actually flying around and throwing fireballs and stuff? There was a transforming Capsule vehicle. The cast wasn't completely white-washed. I mean, Yamcha, was perfect. Just the right amount of douche! It could've been way worse! I think the higher ups are more to blame for the movie than the the writer, though. Apparently they kept changing the script and making it crappier and crappier. I think the guy on this website gives Toriyama waaaay too much credit, though. And nobody working on or adapting Dragon Ball content should be trying to "commit to how Akira Toriyama thinks," at least not now, since he doesn't even seem to understand his own world or characters anymore. But, we apparently have Evolution to thank for Super's existence! So yay! I kept thinking there was one, but I must be thinking of videogame movies. Mortal Kombat, the first one, that movie was good, and got it right. There's a few other good videogame movies, too.
  3. I'm surprised there's no marathon tomorrow. But I'm glad, since I hate marathons, and have no plans. I was going to go to a train show tomorrow or Sunday, but I'm not feeling up to it. I've been having trouble getting sleep lately, and was feeling like I was having bipolar manic symptoms that my meds weren't controlling. Been going on for a few weeks now. My psychiatrist retired, then my new one ended up moving to California. I didn't get set up with another one because everything was going fine at the time and my regular doctor could just prescribe the meds as usual. Still no psychiatrist at my clinic, but I'm going to see a nurse practitioner psychiatrist who my therapist said knows what she is doing, on Monday. Thankfully was able to come in sooner because originally I was going to have to wait until November 5th!
  4. I'm surprised there's no marathon either. But I'm not complaining lol. I hate marathons. You're never going to get off that Hellsing Halloween marathon idea, are you?
  5. Eh, are you sure about that? I can find no evidence for this claim, and it certainly doesn't seem to be the case from what we see in the show. Wait... According to Toonami's creative director Jason DeMarco, Alternative was designed to be a prequel to the FLCL series. This is shown with little details such as Haruko not having her signature yellow Vespa or the metal bracelet on her wrist that tracks Atomsk's power. The Gainax Ending is actually a very loose set up for what was originally going to be the first series, complete with Haruko getting the Vespa and seeing a power akin to Atomsk's. It was meant to tie into an unused story concept in the original that the town of Mabase would've actually been on Mars the entire time. However, there's nothing within the series itself that confirms when it takes place in the timeline. I really don't see how it was meant to be a prequel. I mean, Mars is orbiting the Earth, now! This only muddies the waters even more!
  6. Interesting. The times, they are a-changing. At least now Toonami will have a whole other library of shows to play with. @elfie I thought Crunchyroll was mainly a subs thing. Edit - Also guess this means Mob Psycho 100 isn't on Funimation Now anymore. So I missed watching it there when I had the chance, but I'll enjoy watching it more with everyone else on Toonami.
  7. Nice thread (in the making.) Where is everyone tonight? Thought maybe I got the day or time wrong. I have been out of it lately. Surprised no one went for the Mob Psycho 100 thread yet.
  8. It's a bad genre, mostly, yeah, but the arguments I've seen against the sexual content specifically seem hypocritical to me.
  9. Tokyo Ghoul was way late which is why, despite its rank in the Toonami show request polls, we figured they'd never get it. But... then they did. I don't know if they either couldn't get it, or passed it over for other things, but apparently since the fans asked for it, they "had" to get it. Ugh.
  10. From what I understand the Dimension W anime was squashed down from like 90 chapters of manga or something. So maybe it would have been better if it had more room to breathe. But, the story and concept was still silly, regardless of pacing. And at the time, the manga wasn't even licensed, so that should tell you something. This review nails it pretty well - https://anitay.kinja.com/dimension-w-the-anitay-review-1773744938 But yeah, simuldubs are a big gamble. Demarco has dropped the ball on not getting shows fast enough, hopefully that will improve.
  11. Black Clover Page 44 Discussion Last time on Black Clover, the Black Knights set to battling the High Priest's mages in a game to determine who would win the Magic Stone. The first were pushovers who got one-shotted! The Black Bulls are ranked as juniors, but are much stronger than their rank suggests! Maybe if they behaved better and had better reputations they'd be ranked higher! Yami was disqualified for being too strong, and was having almost as much fun as the High Priest watching the games! We learned one of the mages was Kahono, who dropped the bomb that Noelle has been controlling her magic just fine, but that she subconsciously misses on purpose because she doesn't want to hurt people. Asta fought a guy who was able to counter his anti-magic with dancing?! But, just as things were getting good, Eye of the Midnight Sun showed up to ruin the party! How will things shake out from here? Find out tonight, on Black Clover, on Toonami!
  12. Same here, though I won't always call something that's reviled a guilty pleasure, though that's certainly the case in some cases. I can see a show I like being bad or a guilty pleasure, or good, or a show I dislike being a good, and just something that isn't for me, and also bad and possibly a guilty pleasure or something I watch to riff on. I mean, does anyone seriously think Naruto is high caliber writing and story telling? I liked it though, at least Part 1. But going back, even the good parts weren't as good as I remember, and the canon story becomes only worse as it progresses. I don't like Mad Men, but I can see its quality and appeal. I loved Water World and don't agree it is bad. I loved Star Trek Generations and was baffled upon finding out it was a 50/50 polarizing film online years later. I do recall the audience groaning when they said in the movie that this wouldn't be the last ship called Enterprise.
  13. Exactly. Very generic and formulaic looking. Yep. It can't be an FLCL series and not be held to that high standard. It's already been terraformed, yeah. It still could have looked more like itself, more red - the brown parts lacking in vegetation on Earth would be red on Mars, for example. And we don't know how far in the future it is. I'd argue even further than Progressive, where Amarao's son is an adult with a daughter, and which already had a giant space station made by humans for immigration and "lost and found." So it's not really far-fetched. Like I said though, poorly communicated visually, where anime is a visual medium, that's kind of important to get right.
  14. I don't care what anyone else thinks. It doesn't affect how I feel about a show. I like what I like and dislike what I dislike. You should have recognized that by now with how you've seen me voice my thoughts on anime, manga, and entertainment in general over the years. That goes for everything. And people are free to their opinions, I just find it baffling that people would prefer Alternative, though I can see its appeal and do like it myself, just not nearly as much as Progressive.
  15. So, the typical opponents in the old days would be super-conservative puritan types, but uber-liberal "open-minded" folks who claim to want all identity types, orientations, women to have full sexual freedom equal to men, and sexuality in general to be open, hate ecchi too? Ok then.
  16. They got SAO II very quickly. =3 It wasn't done airing in Japan when the dub started production. Also, Space Dandy WORLD PREMIERE, Attack on Titan III, among other things.
  17. Is that racist the guy the one I think it is? Anti-Chinese stuff? Then they find a smorgasbord of general racist-ass shit from him during his past online. The anime's VAs even protested.
  18. That OP is bangin'! ED is great, too!
  19. Fairy Tail has had all really good OPs. Strike Back is my personal favorite so far. Also going by OP animation, those filler arcs are completely filler, right? Earthland counterparts to characters we first met in Edolas? Oracian Seis? Uhh... must be really good at not feeling like filler. I'll check them out when I'm fully caught up, which shouldn't take too much longer. I know you said to skip the filler, but I couldn't resist watching episode 202. Not nearly as much fan service as seemed implied from the preview, but still pretty nice! Love Yukino. <3 And she just rejoins Sabretooth? Hmm not so sure about that. We'll see what the canon has to say about this! LOL the drama over letting Frosch do this is hilarious. And in the end he ends up at Fairy Tail's guild headquarters. Freed asking if Laxus wants a massage, and he goes sure. Bixlow asks Freed if he'll give him one too and he glares at him and tells to "go rub yourself down!". Got a couple minutes into 226, but passed out. Will be marathonning at full speed and full force today!
  20. Wow are you autistic too with how you read my post? Seriously what the fuck. What the flying horse fuck are you talking about? He made a visual interface, a CAMERA, for Yui. Yui was created by Kayaba for SAO. Just a lifetime of experience with tech as well as that class, and again, he made a mobile camera for Yui to look through. Whoopty-fuckin-doo. It's not literally 24/7, jesus christ. She was bedridden, so she spent a lot of time in the game worlds. That makes sense why she would be good, yes? You expect someone who does something a lot to be good at it? So are you going off reading my statement extremely literally and not what I obviously actually meant or what was depicted in the show... You obviously don't know anything about videogames if you think that. Maybe it's not possible with how the game is designed. There could be failsafes in place like the user gets their brain fried if they tamper with that level of the game infrastructure. Also you had to have access to that special input console. You couldn't just open a menu on your account and hack into the game. You either don't pay attention or don't understand what's going on in the show.
  21. Asperger's, Bipolar Disorder, OCD.
  22. Did you actually pay attention to the movie? The base is empty by the time the Fulminatrix fires on it. The only thing holding them up at that point was Poe and his squadron. With his stalling of Hux and the fleet done and the base evacuated, his job there was done. If Poe had returned when ordered, they could already have left and been out of reach of the dreadnought. You are the one who doesn't follow the concepts of logic or reason and apparently doesn't pay attention to anything he watches. I have done nothing of the sort. You have just misunderstood, misinterpreted, or lied about the movie. I have to admit flaws to placate you? I can't just like the movie? Get over yourself. I'm not the one making the arguments here. You are. Burden of proof is on you. The Last Jedi is a masterpiece. I'm sorry you aren't able to understand and appreciate that, but at the end of the day, it's just a fucking movie. Surely you have other interests? Personally I don't dwell on things I don't like. I forget about them and move on. No clue, but, like I said, it was Poe's fault for disobeying the order. You can do these WELL WHY DIDN'T THEY DO THIS LOL for every Star Wars movie ever and pick them apart like that and they will fall to pieces. You obviously aren't happy you didn't get the movie you wanted, so you look for things to bitch about. Not liking a movie isn't good enough for you. It has to be "bad" for you to feel justified and validated. Pretty sad and juvenile.
  23. Insults are the last resort of a tired mind that knows it has lost.
  24. You really think Kayaba would make it so easy to break into? He probably had a failsafe that fries brains if they tried it, like attempting to remove the NerveGear.
