    SAO was written in 2002, so unlikely. It's based on old school MMOs that Reki played. Anyway, it's not that much like .hack except superficially, the fact they both take place in a game world. I would like to hope that isn't the case. From what I can tell, what Reki has said, and has been discussed, it seems like a way to make the villains more hatable and offer catharsis when they're defeated. Some have also said it's to pander to some fans who want to feel heroic for rescuing women from rape, which is still pretty demented. Either way, it doesn't belong in the show and I had hoped we'd seen the last of it. At least Reki said he won't use rape in his stories anymore.

    I noticed that the videos I've been linking don't have the proper animation to go with them. I'm guessing the uploaders must have put in custom sequences so they wouldn't get taken down. As far as I can tell, there aren't any videos of the OPs and EDs with proper animation that aren't put in a tiny box. Why the heck doesn't Aniplex just post them? As it stands now, the only way to watch them is to load up an episode on Hulu, etc. Annoying!

    EPISODE 4 DISCUSSION Last time on Sword Art Online: Alicization, Kirito and Eugeo took a few more swings at the Gigas Cedar. Including using the Blue Rose Sword that was discovered in the ice cave which Eugeo slowly dragged back to the village. The sword was too heavy for Kirito or Eugeo to wield! We met Alice's younger sister Selka. We learned why Eugeo barely smiles anymore - because Alice is gone. Kirito had the bright idea to tell Selka why Alice was arrested, so she went to the cave as well, and got captured by those goblins we've heard so much about. Eugeo froze up again in a tense situation. How are they going to take down this horde of goblins and rescue Selka? Find out tonight, on Sword Art Online: Alicization, on Toonami!
