If you're going to go as far back as Adult Swim Action, why don't we throw in Pilot Candidate and Trinity Blood? -

Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier
PokeNirvash replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Over the past three years, Toonami's had its share of what some would call, "crap shows". Tokyo Ghoul. Black Clover. Boruto. Sand Whale and Me. FLCL Progressive. Hell, even Dimension W qualifies for many of you. But none of them have anything on the Better Cartoon Show's biggest critical cold turkey in the Adult Swim era. (The one that isn't Tenchi GXP.) A show so crap, so ripe for riffing, that dropping it isn't an option, if only because you want to see what happens next. Take a good long look at this face. 'Cause you're gonna be seeing it in your nightmares for the next year. AGAIN. Sword Art Online: Alicization. Premiering tonight (Sunday morning) at 12:30. In brighter news, the 80-man Tournament of Power kicks off at long last with no further delays, Sarada's first episode of sole focus is dedicated to a silly "forgotten gift" situation, the remaining students besides Deku and Bakugo take their practical exams (one of which has sexy results~), Joe gets a week off to process his surprise loss by technicality, Shigechi runs afoul of Kira's STAND Killer Deadly Queen, we learn why Noelle is so familiar with who Fanzell is, Pouf races against the clock to track down Komugi before Meruem arrives at the palace, and Shino shares the story of how he went from a loner to a team player. 11:00 - Dragonball Super #97 - Survive! The Tournament of Power Begins at Last! - TV-PGLV 11:30 - Boruto: Naruto Next Generations #17 - Run, Sarada! - TV-PG 12:00 - My Hero Academia #36 - Stripping the Varnish - TV-14DLSV 12:30 - Sword Art Online: Alicization #1 - Underworld - TV-14V 1:30 - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable #22 - Yoshikage Kira Just Wants to Live Quietly, Part 2 - TV-MAV 2:00 - Black Clover #56 - The Man Named Fanzell, Continued - TV-PG 2:30 - Hunter x Hunter #129 - Formidable Enemy and Clear Objective - TV-14LV 3:00 - Naruto Shippuden #236 - Friends You Can Count On - TV-PG 3:30 - Attack on Titan #47 - Friends - TV-MA 4:00 - Pop Team Epic #12 - THE AGE OF POP TEAM EPIC - TV-MA 4:30 - Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans #33 - Sovereign of Mars - TV-14 -
And now for my official, serious thoughts on the matter.

Then down came the Good Fairy, and she said... "I'LL FUCK YOU WITH A RAKE!"

Hunter X Hunter ep 128 Discussion
PokeNirvash replied to mochi's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Dammit, Al beat me to the Descendants of Darkness namedrop! Also, I'm sure he'd steer clear of it after five minutes of Muraki. [maybe ten] -
Dear god, the spambots are now invading existing threads instead of making their own.
-
One last moment of indulgence before the fast, maybe?

You non-Toonami watchers don't know how good you have it, living in ignorance of this nasty man.

Trunks Thread 19.1: A New New Frontier
PokeNirvash replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Well, if you're right, that is kinda cool. I had him staffed as storyboarder/director for the penultimate episode of NIBAI MUGENDAI's official replacement as my favorite work that I created (with inspiration from other sources) and I liked what work of his I've seen so far (various anime openings, Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta 10). That gives me something to appreciate about that commercial, since I give zero shits about League of Legends. In other news, the Superb Owl sucked. Neither team scored high enough to matter. The Bud Knight was killed off for some stupid cross-promotional of an overrated HBO program long past its time. That one Spongebob petition was mostly ignored for what I'm sure were selfish reasons. I'm considering not even watching next year. But enough griping. That's what Black Clover's for. BLACK CLOVER - He just got outta the bath, and now he's back in the shower. Yes, this is a non-recap flashback episode. God, I'm a sucker for clouds casting shadows on rural landscapes. What kind of heavy sword doesn't cut through equally heavy trees? Huh, so Nero's been watching over him that far back. NAKED STRANGER COMING THRU. Asta is disturbed but not necessarily repulsed by this man's exposed genitalia. "It's my special Moga (sp?) Relief Juice for increasing your magic power. Hasn't done shit for me, but hey, it might work for somebody." Yes, clothe yourself before you disturb/repulse anybody else in the audience. It was partly his sword, partly his gusto, and partly generic shounen expectations that got him through. All these young adult characters in their late 20s make me feel old despite being younger than them. Hey, just be glad he isn't after something else of yours. And that, my boy, is the power of friendship. The Yuno on Asta's shoulder, meet a cheap late '90s-era shatter effect. You'd think Asta would be excited to chop wood, after Yuno cockblocked him from doing so the last time... Never skip arm day, Asta. I still have no idea why I find this boy so endearing. Naming things is overrated, but I feel like I'm missing out by avoiding doing so. You're a good man, Fanzell. The only thing worse than slasher flicks? Slasher flick sequels. At least this one looks self-aware enough to be fun, compared to that damned Unfriended 2: Dark Web Boogaloo. That's some tough wood, if it can stand up to that sword. Holy shit huge bird. Were you naked often when teaching them, because I can imagine why they'd think so little of you. That top 1 guy sounds like the fun kind of crazy. REPLY TO ANGEL 2: "Is that just Noelle in a wig?" Close, it's Sally (mad science girl) without her glasses. It's always weird listening to Asta speak at a reasonable volume. Poor Fanzell's the only sane one here. Let's get serious for a moment. So did you find the body or not, that's kind of something important you need to tell. SUDDENLY ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT. It all seems to be coming back to that guy this cour. [TARZAN SCREECH] Welp, so much for telling him to run and thinking it would stick. And then he was the one giving him life advice. Those QUALITY faces are the perfect expressions of confusion. Stranger inflection than when you notice a STAND in the chrome of the steering wheel. Domina is honestly an underrated name, even if it's best used only in fiction. Well he sure got naked again fast. By the way, this episode was based off a light novel side story. Probably should've led with that. HUNTER x HUNTER - We now return you to the loudest mourning ceremony in anime history, already in progress. Oh shit he's twitching. I do not miss those days when he was just as savage as the rest of them, if not moreso. Healing cells with cells, I'm certain there's a technical term for this. He's no longer crispy, but he's now on fire, I wouldn't call that "all right". Random fairy girls. They're not even trying to hide the fact that Pouf literally orgasmed from being praised so highly. This truly is the Sounds of Gay Sex Experience. NENCTAR. Random fat cherubs. And now Youpi is the one experiencing an extended metaphor for an orgasm. Star highlights. This is easily the most homosexual anime episode to have aired on television since Descendants of Darkness on SyFy ten years ago. Or, at least, that one Kekkaishi episode Angel said gave DoD a run for its money in that department. Is that the hand of the Queen? Alright, Meruem it is, then. You saw it here first, ratings enthusiasts, breastfeeding is 14 straight material. You are now one with the spirit of MILFdom. Oh god Nanbu's gonna lose his other eye isn't he. MERUEM IS BACK, BABY. Now Youpi has his own chibi fairy form to match Pouf's. "Go away, I'm processing." He knows a bullshitter when he sees one. I'm not sure I'd call Netero a coward, but he was definitely a scoundrel. This episode's already gay enough, Pouf, don't make things worse. Look out, 'cause here comes Yandere Butterfly Reigen. Count yourself lucky, the both of them have already left. You do know he can tell what you're thinking, right? FLY AWAY NOW FLY AWAY NOW. H-Hayai! Welp, sucks to be you, Pouf. And then everyone kicked his ass. APR flying with them. Ikalgo and Killua are here too, you just can't see them. Shirtless Knuckle gets top billing for once, Angel must be pleased to some degree. NARUTO SHIPPUDEN - That's some crappy bird animation. The hell's with this robot. His advanced technology was no match for good ol' kicking power. That's one serious man-jaw for a kunoichi. [TORNADO SIRENS INTENSIFY] As if I need to ask what he means by "research". JOESTAR SECRET TECHNIQUE, GO! Filler or no filler, I know he marries Hinata when all's said and done, so I can see what outcome the end of this episode will have. Yamato's voiced by Matt Mercer now, so of course he's taking things more serious than most. "First a bathroom break, then we'll talk." Well, at least the dislike of this silly kunoichi tradition is mutual. Even if he did survive whatever tragic fate befell him, I doubt a matrilineal society would've allowed him to become a politician anyways, as sexist as they are. After looking up the show on Wikipedia, I'm starting to have a hard time believing the black Tropical Cop is played by a dude. Eh, he'll get his chance to marry once the war's over. WE THUNDERDOME NOW. What even is a Nadeshiko style, really? A fancy female-friendly name for Wind Style? No one ever expects them to come from behind. (Yes, realized it the moment I said it.) Oh god, robot suitor's back. Geez, how long was this guy chasing after her anyways? "Nobody interrupts my Talk no Jutsu!" Suck it, suitor man, you fail even as a filler villain. "Locking away one's heart" sounds cliche as all hell. Bullshit, you love Sasuke and you know that better than anyone. The irony is, the only one you're winning over with your actions is Hinata. It's been forever since I've seen Yamato's face like that. Well that episode was lame. But really, who'd have thought that NaruSaku shipping of all things would be what ultimately sank this episode? -
Eh, at least it made the top 10.

On the topic of Mob, I've recently gotten myself addicted to the second season's OP. I'm going to wait patiently for Toonami's inevitable broadcast of season 2, if not the simuldub in general, though.
-
I imagine Todd will make it out of this alive, since it seems to be just the one incident that he feels guilty about, compared to Vic's years of rock star notoriety.
-
Good thing I always thought California was the superior dubbing state.
-
I normally don't predict dub casts (anymore) but Todd Haberkorn better be Buccellati, just because I can't read his famous line in any other voice.
