  1. There should have been an eleventh commandment. "If it ain't broken, don't try to fix it!"
  2. Wait'll the herniated disc sets In.
  3. By the way... food is just as easily preserved by canning or drying. If I bought anything that needed refrigeration, I intended to eat it the same day. Buy a frozen entree, heat in the microwave... the one I had on top my dresser.
  4. That's not failure. That's called beginner step. Step one: Move your ass and all your stuff out of your Mom's house before you're twenty. If you can't afford your own apartment, open your eyes and look for something that suits your budget. Step two: When you outgrow your new living space, get a better paying job and upgrade. I did both. That's not failure. Next... I'll end up buying a house in the future. It's not going to be anyplace where the property tax would add up to its purchase price in ten years.
  5. And how does that derail it? He mentioned trying to pass an obsolete fridge off as new to next tenant by doing some cosmetic polishing and I said the damn thing is crap compared to a new one.
  6. I'm just the guy who did live without one for five years. No kitchen access at all. This apartment is a major step up from that. Living without one is inconvenient, but hardly impossible.
  7. And what the bloody fuck does your Photoshop mastery have to do with the Magic Eraser?
  8. Refrigerators aren't "necessary". They're luxury items.
  9. I don't derail threads. I posted about a new sponge on the market and quite predictably, OTHER PEOPLE derailed it and made it about the supposed trash in my place. I counter by proving it's not trash.
  10. It's relevant in talking about buying, selling or trading vintage electronics.
  11. I also find it hilarious that two separate businesses have cropped up around the same theme. https://www.retroradiofarm.com
  12. Can you prove that it's the seller's bid or was it just the ghost in the paper cup that told you? You're being intellectually dishonest.
  13. If I were a tiki god, my name would be Watsitumi. If I were a ghost, I wouldn't bother with anything Earthly. So many other dimensions and universes to explore.
  14. I think that was the basis of the Winchester House.
  15. Boy, you just have an excuse for everything. How about something a little more modern, then? My point is that when anything can be sold, bartered or utilized, it's not trash. Trash is limited to things that can't.
  16. There aren't any squatters or roaches. The on site management keeps them out.
  17. Very similar though. Same age, same material...
  18. That's before restoration. After is where the money is. Here's why: People who know those older circuits are hard to find. When you do find one, his bench time is similar to what a lawyer would charge.
  19. So, you want one that has a firm bid? https://m.ebay.com/itm/PHILCO-MODEL-90A-90-CATHEDRAL-RADIO/232784492263?hash=item36330976e7:g:rV0AAOSwxQJbAhP5
  20. They don't need one. There's already a three year waiting list. No shortage of people trying to get in.
  21. Not enough to get out of your grandma's attic, most likely.
  22. Fully restored, it'll cost you more than you earn in a month.
  23. It'll be sold soon. They always do.
  24. Okay, so how did this empty shell without even its original finish end up on eBay for hundred dollars? https://m.ebay.com/itm/vintage-PHILCO-37-610-RADIO-part-Art-Deco-WOOD-SHELL-in-very-nice-shape/332432351630?hash=item4d6683218e:g:JyYAAOSwEzxYRN0o You're.telling me somebody is going to part with his money for trash?
  25. Okay, so.here's one that's not an eBay link. This unit will soon be on its way to Atlantic Electronics Repair. When fitted with all brand new wires, caps, resistors, grounded cord and internal antenna, how much do you think it's worth to either an avid collector or some Philadelphia hipster who wants a vintage accent piece?
