The reason they started doing that in the first place was because it went along with the somewhat dillusional aim of getting a niche, unpopular, late-night block, a block that started early in the wee hours of the morning airing obscure anime, propelled into popularity. Toonami and Toonami fans have always had this idea at it's a special diamond in the rough. The Nielson ratings is system of measurements, and at that time was the only type we had for cable or even home entertainment in general, and people like it when the unknown is summed up in hard science. But now things have gotten a ton more complicated.

After watching it, I notice it BARELY advertises the movie. You don't even realize it until the very last scene, which only lasts a few seconds.

... while it doesn't affect every anime, the COVID pandemic has severely cut down on the amount of anime coming out last year. Some were canceled, others postponed. Hell KyoAni had to quit making TV series for two whole years because their main studio was lit on fire an tons of staff died. It is POSSIBLE for some anime to not come out for whatever reason. So anime isn't tangile but it IS a consumable good! It is produced, traded in exchange for currency, and it depends on peoples' interest in it to be made. I agree that we don't need more anime. We need HALF of the anime out now, and people have to accept that.

The anime was inspired by film noir. I see NONE of that in these photos.

Fans and executives will have to deal with the fact that there won't be enough anime to satisfy sales. ... also that anime is made under inhumanitarian conditions.
