I heard though that Season 2 will be handled by a whole other third-party animation studio, which probably means the new management wants it to look more like any other TV animated series rather than that one tiny indie studio of fan animators.

You severely underestimate the industry's insistence to have one SAO SOMETHING come out any season at any sacrifice possible. The only reason there WEREN'T any SAO stuff coming out in some seasons is because they just couldn't get stuff done that fast. They turned a turd that some fan got lucky with when getting his version of Twilight fame into the next Batman/James Bond/Star Wars.

I agree with the rating. Not the best episode, and the plot this week was a bit awkward to watch, but a fitting intro for Irina.

... Buddy, look at how many students are in this class. Do you not think it will take time to know every one of them? Look at how Shonen it is. DO you NOT THINK they're going to get longer arcs?? Do you not think the story will focus on the entire class YEAR, since the class YEAR factors directly into the premise??

Here's something that doesn't translate into English: English language courses taught in a Japanese-speaking school. Hearing this in a Engrish dialect is much more hilarious.

This is one thing about the show I hate. It reiterates out loud to you what the hell you already know, right down to the biggest themes.
