  1. watched NXT - the thing I like most about NXT I think is apparent in the No Way Jose vs Cezar Bononi match. Bononi beat Andrade Cien Almas, instead of just feeding the roster to the big dude, No Way Jose actually won the match. But then afterward, Almas beat down Bononi some more. And it was win-win-win. Instead of in WWE where - like they would just feed Jose and Almas to Bononi and that would be that - we have a series of matches where they all each look good in their own right. In effect, all three men end up getting pushed. That's great booking to me.
  2. In fact, I would say Boomerang is becoming more of what CN should be than CN is. They run really old classic stuff, cartoon cartoons phase stuff, post-cartoon cartoon stuff, and also new stuff from Teletoon and other places. And those shows aren't spectacular, but they're decent background noise kinda. They have stuff like Popeye and Bugs Bunny, but also Courage the Cowardly Dog, Eds, and stuff like that, and Fosters and other toons from the last couple decades or so. And then shows like My Knight and Me and Bunnicula, that are newer, but not originals (licensed from other entities). Kind of thinking about it, makes me wonder why people are even watching CN at all, when Boomerang seems to have so much more diverse programming.
  3. I like some CN things and not so much others. Yeah, there was a time when like the whole lineup was pretty awesome. Now the whole lineup is usually like 3 shows over and over again. But being a fan of cartoons, I still like a lot of stuff. Adventure Time is one of my all time favorite shows, that's got - like one or two? seasons left I think. Clarence and Steven Universe are okay. I'm probably one of the few people on earth that likes Uncle Grandpa. wow yeah, it's hard to think of more than just a few shows anymore on CN.

  5. It was an oddly sensible episode creatively speaking.
  6. Really loved that Joe/Reigns/Strowman thing. That was awesome. i miss talking smack
  7. not sure when it started, it's only been noticed within the last couple days, so it's possibly connected to something that occurred sometime between the server switch and most recent update.
  8. if you read the planning board, that thread that KN made asking what was wrong with the board, and we put this in that thread. So you don't have @ him, he already knows about it I think.

  14. he's a beardy now.
  15. I'd heard he's supposed to be in this season. hmmm. I wonder if Arya, in her quest to kill the Queen, comes across him in or near King's Landing or something. He might not even be in this season. I just read rumors that he was.
  16. I always thought he'd just hook up with Melisandre at some point and she'd cure him or something. But yeah, unless she's at the Citadel, I guess it'll have to be Sam or some other Maester if he's going to get cured. Also was just thinking about it and whatever happened to the Iron Bank of Braavos? They were breathing down Cersei's neck and then nothin.
  17. Euron will end up grabbing somebody, probably somebody in Dany's camp. Jon will eventually get Sam's letter, which will, single minded creature that he is, compel him toward Dany because he needs to mine the dragonglass beneath Dragonstone. When you think about it, Dany has surrounded herself with all the boogie-men and women of the 7 kingdoms. Varys was never seen as much more than a spider. Tyrion is a devil dwarf Lannister. The Sand Snakes are renowned evil assassins. The Greyjoys, who took Winterfell and started two different wars in the North recently. So a Dany/Snow liaison is going to be a tough sell. Which will create tension that Littlefinger might be able to leverage. Given the rhythm of GOT, "stormborn" sound like a 'triumphant dany" title. But she's due for a slapdown by fate. So maybe "stormborn" is a metaphor for her getting knocked down yet again, but having been born to storms, gets right back up or something. Queen's Justice might have to do with what Cersei does with whoever Euron brings her. Or it could mean something going well for Cersei. Given the positioning plot-wise, I would expect for Cersei to stage a bit of a comeback in the first few episodes. So it might be her striking down some other enemy faction. There is more than one queen though, so maybe it means both queens will be involved in situations that require them to weigh a situation and render some for of justice. Looks like Dondarion's band is headed to the Wall to join the Night's Watch. Curious to see what Bran and Meera do. Also Littlefinger. If he finally senses that he can no longer maneuver Sansa, he might just jump ship to Cersei's side, or do something else. Then there's Jorah in a cell apparently at the Citadel, the greyscale having advanced to his whole arm. Not sure what part he may play as things move forward.
  18. I think WWE wants it, Punk doesn't. The only performer I think we'll never ever in a million years see on WWE television ever again forever and ever under any circumstances is Jeff Jarrett.
  19. Liked the episode. Just not sure I trust that the momentum will play out for the rest of the season. I think Olenna will get swept under the rug in the next episode. My guess is Jaime will go after Highdarden because it's his only real choice as he says this episode. But given that the Lannisters were basically only doing well against Stannis was because of their allegiance with Highgarden. And Dorn is also apparently with Highgarden. So - not sure how they plan to pull that off. But I feel like that's the showrunner's intent, to have Jaime invade Highgarden successfully. So I guess we'll see. If it happens, I'm guessing Olenna will off herself rather than submit to the indignity of being a Lannister hostage. In the books, even if Loris, Margerie and Mace all got killed, there are actually more Tyrells. They have another son and a daughter I think. Plus Olenna is a Redwine, so she has all the Redwines in theory backing her as well who are all still alive. I kind of expected the first couple episodes to be like last season when it was like - Hotah, one of the biggest badass fighters in the seven kingdoms is like stabbed by a little girl and dies immediately. I thought maybe this season would be more of that. Just furiously killing off characters just to wrap things up. But they spent a lot of time on Dondarion and Thoros this episode. So who knows. Maybe they won't just do any "character dump" episodes and just get on with the story itself.

I grew up on his work. And they inspired generations to follow. For me, his stuff hit on every level. It was exciting, visceral, funny and moving. He seemed to have such a grasp of what it was to be human that grounded all the horror and fantasy elements. Even in his cameos. As the priest in Martin, focused on the food and wine he was eating and drinking, while congenially waving off the concerns of the old man serving him. His movies were almost always alternative releases because studios couldn't quite box him up. Social undercurrents were strong throughout his work. Racism, consumerism, militarism, feminism and patriarchy, just how people were often responsible for their own social frustration. So many amazing movies. I was blown away by most of them. his characters were focused and layered, but also daringly mundane. Many of my all time favorite movies are Remero movies. Jack's Wife, Martin, Knightriders, Night of the LIving Dead, Dawn Of the Dead, Day Of the Dead, the Crazies, Creepshow, etc. Diary of the Dead did the same thing that the first three Dead movies did, which is take stock of where we were as a species. He fought hard for every creative inch he got, much of it of his own making or taking. It had been several years since his last movie. I had hoped he had a few more in him. He had a unique ability to wrap fantasy and action in the mundane, sort of marrying it to reality. I can't think of anyone that has ever done that better. Besides his work, he leaves a trail of inspiration from that crop of late-70s-80s horror directors that in their own right set off some inspirational waves, on up through directors and writers just starting out or in school today. I feel good that his work will probably be studied and passed around for as far into the future as I care to look. I'm so so glad he lived.

Passed in his sleep yesterday morning after "a brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer". He was 77. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-me-george-romero-20170716-story.html http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/news/max-brooks-george-romero-was-the-thinkers-zombie-creator-w492613
