  12. SMF is more than a little wonky on the back end. that is to say: It's very old software. And the very way the internet moves and is processed has changed dramatically since it was created. And they do issue updates to the software periodically. But those updates aren't always compatible with your board plugins. So, for example, you browse the SMF list of plugins and find something you need, odds are it already isn't compatible with either your theme or your SMF version. So you either have to do without, or fix a ton of errors in the plugin to consolidate it to the version, and a ton more to consolidate it to the theme. So - with SMF, you have a software package that, at its core, is way out of date. And yeah, they can update it to a degree, but without scrapping it entirely and remaking it, there's only so much you can do with it. And then on top of that, what updates they can and do come out with, fuck with your plugins and addons. Since we began, KN has been pushing for a software package that is more current and actively developed, and rightly so as it provides a smoother experience for users and an easier experience for those of us behind the scenes. so, SMF works. sort of. It's still not really optimized by any stretch of the imagination for mobile and all the various devices used for internet surfage these days. So - the choice is, do we limp along with SMF until they finally stop updating it (because it really is only a matter of time there) or switch it up to something that's current, actively developed, and will provide an easier time for admins in terms of developing the board and crafting it to the needs of UE and community, and a smoother experience for said community? The choice I made was to go ahead and change it up to something else.
  13. that's toward the top of our list. It's the thing we get the most complaints and reports about atm. SMF is kind of all or nothing with the BBCode. I'm hoping maybe the new software will be more adaptable.
  14. June is experiments. With new things, new softwares and servers and such. So, this month I am compiling lists of the stuff I want to be sure the new software has. And also looking at the board guidelines to update those for the new thing. If there's stuff you like about SMF and this board, post and let me know so I can make sure it makes the list. Also if there's stuff that we don't have that you might like to see included in the experiments, let me know here. The current plan is to get our information together, then make sure the software is ready, including making sure all the volunteers are familiar with the software and how things work with it so they can master the differences and be able to help users with questions they might have. Then, we will transfer the board data to the new software. So we shouldn't lose any posts/threads or anything like that. It won't be like the other transfer from Proboard where we had to leave the old data behind. The data from SMF should port over to the new software. When that occurs, and it won't be for some time (like maybe a couple months at the earliest), we will give people plenty of advanced notice, and also open up the backup board so that people can post there while waiting for the data to port over and the new forum to get up and running. My understanding is there won't be a ton of downtime, maybe a few hours to an afternoon if all goes well. But again, that won't be for awhile yet and we'll tell you before it happens. so let me know: 1. What you like/want to be sure we keep from this forum/software setup. 2. Stuff you might like to see in the new software that isn't currently part of the SMF board.
  15. just watched the last one and it may well be the best episode ever. fantastic buildup from last episode and then Joe telling his potato stories while Gregg and Mark sit there - it was just freaking amazing. Kind of looking forward to the next one, but I don't think they're going to top this one this season.
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. are you saying fuggs and zeni are the same person? and they're both mcgeegee?
  18. whether or not I am choose to be possum is left to be seen.
  19. "Whether I stay or not is left to be seen."
  20. I think it's like - this week - Raw had a spectacular ending, but the overall show was just kind of peaks and valleys. And Smackdown didn't have that spectacular match. but the overall show was smoother and more consistent. Watching NXT right now. I like what's happening there. I actually had kind of written off Roderick Strong, but I admit to being intrigued by the possibilities of Strong Vs Roode. I can't imagine Itami will take the title. And Aleister Black, Drew MacIntyre and Kassius Ohno all waiting in the wings, things are looking pretty solid I think for the title picture there. Tag division is a bit light in NXT, but I feel like the writing there has stiffened up and become more WWE-like in that they're just no using the fantastic teams they have. And instead seem to be falling back on monster pushes. Like Authors Of Pain, who seem a little weak in their ringwork at times, missing spots and such. And now another team Heavy Machinery, seems a bit green as well, but they are monsters so they seem to be shoving them on through just like they did AOP. The tag division has lost a lot with Dash and Dawson moving up to WWE (which, btw, they've been virtually buried on the card). Kinda leaves room for development and new teams. Right now they've got DIY, Sanity, AOP, Heavy Machinery and that's about it. And always the women are great. Asuka is fantastic. I love the Riot/Cross thing. Lacey Evans' new intro is pretty cool and she's obviously gifted in the ring, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce are decent ring performers with a great mic gimmick, they're the perfect mean girls. Liv Morgan's intro still bugs me because it's just Carmella. She deserves a better and more distinct intro, she's good in the ring. Daria's in there on the periphery, looking for good things there as well. And of course Ember Moon always a fave. I mean - you've kinda got to be freakin kidding me with the women in WWE lately. Like the roster is already jammed with top tier talent, and the developmental is equally jammed up. It's an embarrassment of riches, which makes me a little sad, as I still feel like WWE creative doesn't know what to do with women and cruiserweights. A shame since some of the more electric moments I think are coming out of those divisions as of late. having said all that, the battle royal seems a little sloppy to start. As the ring cleared out though, things definitely picked up and smoothed out. good to see Nikki Cross make it to the final three. Things got really savage with Moon/Riot/Cross. Icing on the cake, Asuka decides to crash the party. It led to a murky ending (nobody won the match) but it was still a very dramatic ending and it left me wanting to see what happens next. Honestly, WWE really could/should think about creating a women's tag division, if for no other reason to mitigate the crazy truckloads of talent and create more title opportunities for that division.
  21. and we might be taking on some more in a bit when we start shifting servers and software.
  22. Admin is Admin (hey that's me!) and has access to all of the admin stuff. BUU8800 is Helper Elf and mostly does the floats for Toonami and stuff like that. KN is Admin and he has the server and is therefor caretaker of that. Whenever I say "sent an email" on the backup board, that's who I'm emailing. MEXobiologist is a mod and looks at reports and moves posts and threads around and like that. Misaka is Archivist and helps information flow. monderraptorpat is a mod and also does things a mod does. Rogue_Alphonse is a mod who does mod things so watch it! StarPanda is Helper Elf and does I guess helpery things. Viperslayer/DJ Sona/etc was a Green Ghost, who helped troubleshoot general codey type things, but he is no longer doing that. viperxmns is another mod who is happy to help. Zintar is Admin and handles the board donations.
  23. happy birthday
