Agreed. I liked the show as well, and some really nice sounding stuff in there planned for the next episodes they'd already written out, had the show returned. Seeing/hearing that it did actually initially get renewed at first makes a lot of sense of my memory from that period after the season finished, since I kind of vaguely remember being surprised when it suddenly went into limbo about whether or not it was ever going to be back and then obviously never did, other than that eventual little Toonami run.

Yup, it's the next chapter of SAC so you should definitely watch it, everything's the same about it including the characters and timeline and takes place two years after 2nd Gig. Oh just saw it, good question, I guess they only stuck with the relevant bits since those wars could be like a whole season or something? They kind of do that with only overall information about the conflict surrounding that ep where the Major and Saito face off too I think? Great ep tho.
