naruto Naruto Shippuden Episode 212 Discussion
OwlChemist81 replied to StarPanda's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
That video was really cool! I like the ones that add special visual/audio effects to clips and soundbites. Last time we've seen anything quite like that was 1/17/15's "Get Busy Living" video! So 3.5 years, almost! -

Damn, ANOTHER cliffhanger!? This arc is a lot longer than I thought it would be. Of course, that seems to be the way Black Clover rolls! -

One-Punch Man returns, Lupin & Bebop swap August 11th
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
None YET. Generally they're not aware that WE'RE aware of the backdoor schedule. I'm sure that fanfare will be coming in early August, and people will wonder why they couldn't make this happen sooner. But I believe that there was some kind of tightrope walking this time to avoid the extensive use of "Voice of God" in the topicals that resulted from an earlier simuldub and giving the voice actors room to breathe, yet doing it early enough for FUNi's liking. -
Unsurprisingly, Toonami will air Attack on Titan S3.
OwlChemist81 replied to Blatch's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Well, I guess that makes it weird that Season 3 will get the red carpet rolled out for it on Toonami, while Season 2 ended up semi-buried at 12:30, since it contained LOTS of big reveals! If the anime just glosses over that, maybe it will be more accessible to an earlier audience? Either way, with FLCL staying at 11:30 for Alternative (and maybe a 22-minute Pillows concert special on 8/25??), that means were getting Attack on Titan Season 3 at either 10 PM, 10:30 PM, or 11 PM. The latest time possible is the earliest timeslot that an AOT episode has ever aired, 11 PM, and the earliest time possible is the earliest timeslot Toonami has ever aired in on Adult Swim, 10 PM. Will AOT steal DBS's thunder? Only time will tell. Another possibility is that something gets bumped back to 12 AM to give and later Boruto an even earlier timeslot, and that COULD be AOTS3. But I HIGHLY doubt that will happen (nor do I want it to happen, quite frankly). If Boruto gets an earlier timeslot than Midnight, the switcheroo should happen when it premieres and not before with PTE. -
One-Punch Man returns, Lupin & Bebop swap August 11th
OwlChemist81 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
You have to look at the negative spaces. It shows no Toonami shows but R&M is gone and Family Guy is at 9:30, with only a single episode of The Venture Bros. between them. That means Toonami is expanding to 10 PM to welcome AOT, but the question is "in what timeslot"? 10 PM would be awesome but insane. 10:30 would be great as well, and would only displace DBS, and if you're gonna do that and put it in an earlier slot than ever on Toonami, 3 weeks from now would be the time to do it. But MHA would be displaceable as well IF they're going to show the recap on the 11th. It turns out that's not the plan though as they're skipping over Episode 13.5 "Hero Notebook". Kind of a shame considering that might not be a bad way to introduce the show to a prime time audience. But it's actually quite possible that after AOT Season 2 got snubbed and placed in a late-night timeslot, they'll really be rolling out the red carpet for Season 3 and premiering it at 10 PM! At least it's likely that it will get 10:30. Problem is, I probably won't see it for most of the season at that earlier hour because I'll likely be watching College Football instead and catching it on my DVR, while DBS just might end up during halftime. But if the earlier time works out better, I say go for it! -
I wonder if this game will feature "vagina wedgies" in transformation sequences like the anime did, or that they'll censor that to reach a wider audience? And by the way, why in the hell are we talking about video games in a ratings thread anyway? Except maybe that a 2nd season might spin off from the game? That would be cool. Oh, and I have no doubt in my head that Toonami will feature a review of the game at some point early next year! Hopefully this fight will be showcased... BUTT, back to the ratings for Dragon Ball Super's still fledgling 8 PM strip, this time on Thursday... http://programminginsider.com/thursday-final-ratings-cbs-leads-in-most-key-prime-times-figures-fox-tops-among-adults-18-34/ Dragon Ball Super (repeat) (ADSM, 8:00 PM, 30 min.)• 0.466 million viewers (#75)• 0.28 HH (#73)• 0.14 A18-49 (#82)• 0.16 A18-34 (#49)• 0.13 A25-54 (#90) American Dad (repeat) (ADSM, 8:30 PM, 30 min.)• 0.526 million viewers (#66)• 0.33 HH (#67)• 0.20 A18-49 (#54)• 0.20 A18-34 (#31)• 0.20 A25-54 (#65) In the battle between strongmen Goku and Stan Smith, Smith wins again for the 2nd day in a row after Goku pulled a 3-day upset streak. And the weekly leaderboard shapes up like this: Dragon Ball Super M-F Weekly Avgs Wk P2+ HH 18-49 18-34 25-54 #1 453,800 0.283 0.150 0.173 0.143 #2 456,000 0.288 0.174 0.216 0.148 #3 438,800 0.264 0.152 0.184 0.132 #4 430,000 0.263 0.155 0.190 0.140 As the colored formatting suggests, most of the demos have actually grown slightly from week 3 to week 4, even if overall viewers and households have declined slightly, making week 4 the series' low point in the overall numbers so far. But week 4 is incomplete, with Friday left to go. Will Friday's numbers cause week 4 to rise up and challenge week 2's dominance? It should also be noted that week 2 was essentially a comedy of errors to prevent a high-stakes disaster with a few cameo battles from the likes of Buu and Gotenks, while week 3 was a more traditional battle-heavy batch of episodes after Goku gained his god form for the first time, with the exception of Friday's, which began the transition between the Beerus and Frieza arcs and saw Mr. Satan as the real star, though bumblingly so.

Maybe this time Viz and Madhouse will dare to do an international world premiere on Toonami? I mean, probably not, but MAYBE so?? -
Hmmm...I'll just leave this here...

THIS JUST IN!!! I was checking to see if Pre-Flight from SDCC would be replaced tonight (I kinda hope not), but I ended up seeing THIS shocking new development: And I thought they lost the rights to OPM on 7/16/18, but I guess they decided to renew it?? While I'm glad that Punchy is back, it's a shame that it couldn't be a Gundam show, as they're remaining curiously absent from the lineup. Also, I have a bad feeling about Shippuden. AOT has to go somewhere, and FLCL: Progressive's rerun has one episode left. Or, maybe AOT S3 temporarily replaces MHA and MHA comes back the following week? Either way, we need expansion of some sort in September to showcase FLCL Alternative. Alternative has already been announced for 11:30, so AOT pretty much has to be either 10:30 (with expansion) or 11 (with no expansion) in September, but it would suck for its timeslot to change right away. Either that, or its previously-announced timeslot needs to change. And if NO expansion, then that means Shippuden would be going "bye bye" on 8/25 right in the middle of the 5 Kage arc before the franchise returns on 9/29 with Boruto. I'm immensely enjoying the 5 Kage arc so I REALLY hope THAT'S not the case! So hopefully there IS expansion to 10 PM on 9/1 to showcase FLCL Progressive twice, and that continues on 9/8 with Dragon Ball Super, MHA, and perhaps AOT in new timeslots. That way Shippuden can keep on chugging along at 2! Also, this new almost unprecedented THIRD run of OPM will most likely end in early November; could that mean that's when Toonami gets Season 2? If not then, maybe to kick off 2019??

Spoiler fail! Also, of course I'm only kidding! -
I just noticed an interesting quirk (with a lowercase "q") in the Friday schedule compared to all the other weeknights: Friday has only one episode of Bob's Burgers at 10:30, so it instead gets 2 episodes of the Cleveland Show and 2 episodes of American Dad. Last week, DBS beat its Cleveland follow-up, but ONLY in total viewers. ANNND, probably more important, [as] is losing the Cleveland Show soon!

Wait, what's that?? It actually happened AGAIN on Tuesday night!? REALLLLLY... http://programminginsider.com/tuesday-final-ratings-decent-start-to-usa-network-reality-series-miz-mrs/ Dragon Ball Super (repeat) (ADSM, 8:00 PM, 30 min.)• 0.427 million viewers (#84)• 0.26 HH (#85)• 0.17 A18-49 (#65)• 0.21 A18-34 (#28)• 0.16 A25-54 (#80) American Dad (repeat) (ADSM, 8:30 PM, 30 min.)• 0.351 million viewers (#91)• 0.26 HH (#85)• 0.16 A18-49 (#68)• 0.20 A18-34 (#30)• 0.15 A25-54 (#83) Well I'll be. Only a narrow victory over AD for DBS in most demographics this time though. And unfortunately, AD got the upper hand on Wednesday... http://programminginsider.com/wednesday-final-ratings-two-hour-world-of-dance-on-nbc-edges-past-foxs-two-gordon-ramsay-shows-from-8-10-p-m-among-adults-18-49/ Dragon Ball Super (repeat) (ADSM, 8:00 PM, 30 min.)• 0.434 million viewers (#82)• 0.26 HH (#86)• 0.17 A18-49 (#65)• 0.20 A18-34 (#34)• 0.15 A25-54 (#82) American Dad (repeat) (ADSM, 8:30 PM, 30 min.)• 0.557 million viewers (#69)• 0.33 HH (#73)• 0.26 A18-49 (#31)• 0.26 A18-34 (#24)• 0.25 A25-54 (#51) Oh well; that was good while it lasted...

FLCL Progressive Rerun Discussion
OwlChemist81 replied to Blatch's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
I was under the impression that one key difference between Medical Mechanica's headphones and those of Yan are that the cat ears actually serve a function and contain tweeters and woofers, doubling as speakers. Or maybe that's Brookstone's? Well one has that distinction, and the other doesn't. Edit: Voice actress of Hidomi Xanthe Huynh wore the Brookstone version, which contains the woofer and tweeter in the cat ears, so its wearers can switch from a "personal" mode to a "sharing" mode in which the ears play music. But the FLCL2 version's cat ears just light up and don't contain that feature. -
