As bad as the premise of this episode admittedly was, it just somehow worked a lot better in the dub. Probably good enough for a "B" in my book.

This show has always had a better timeslot in Japan than it has here! For others, that isn't quite true. For example, Promised Neverland actually has a better timeslot here!

Hmmm, this is quite strange. Guess I'll just watch it on VRV for now! I guess if Toonami's expand on 5/25, Mob Season 2 COULD join AOT. But of course it will not be a dub premiere. It will be about as far behind as Black Clover was to begin with.

I don't think there WAS an International version this time. I think we're talking original OP and ED! As for timeslot, I think we're talking either 1 or 1:30, immediately after SAO3, depending upon where and how AOT S3 Part 4 shows up. Lupin has always been kind of a "midcarder" on Toonami in premieres, although I guess you could argue that the earliest appearance of Part 4 at 2 AM was a "latecarder". At any rate, it's most likely gonna replace JoJo, though I'll bet JoJo will come back relatively shortly for Part 5 when AOT S3 Part 2 ends. Now whether the 2 "Part 5s" end up back to back for a time will remain to be seen... And I'm STILL hoping we get expansion to 10 PM and Gundam: The Origin TV Edit out of this...

Now now, I think it's too early to make a judgment call on The Promised Neverland, and it's FAR too early to make a judgment call on noitaminA. You know, when I first heard of the "noitaminA" block, I thought its thing, like Toonami's [as] incarnation, was "edgy" animation, but that's not it at all. It turns out at its inception, the shows were meant for women, as this article explains: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/the-mike-toole-show/2019-04-22/.145772 We did see a bit of this effect with Promised Neverland's first episode, as the number of female viewers edged out the number of males. But not so with the second, and it's also clear that effect might be moreso due to NBA Playoffs starting on 4/13 than it is Promised Neverland's female appeal. TNT IS running an NBA Playoffs game this Saturday night at 1 AM, but I suspect that's a rerun. The actual games end by 11 PM, just in time for Dragon Ball Super, and there's no games on ESPN, so at least theoretically, Toonami should "rebound".

Welp, so much for the promise of Promised Neverland, as it gets edged out by SAO and JoJo on what arguably is a "bad" night in this day and age: Well, at least all 5 shows that were eligible made the Top 50, but Boruto's 18-34 number was just plain awful! An unlucky 0.13 translates to about 88K viewers 18-34; we haven't seen 18-34s that low since the all-nighter experiment late last fall! Then again, to be fair we also haven't actually known an 18-34 at 2 AM in a long time either. Thank goodness my demographic, the 35-49s, picked up the slack, equaling about half the viewership for 12-1:30 AM, despite being slightly smaller (spanning 15 years of life as opposed to 17). Maybe going forward, Toonami will skew older after midnight? Last Easter, Toonami didn't do great ratings but it DID have the special April Fool's Day event. Perhaps going forward it would behoove them to stick to special events on Easter Sunday? IIRC 2017 ratings weren't that great either. It DID have the JoJo double-header but otherwise was pretty much a "normal" night. By that definition, both the 3/30 and 4/6 lineups were "special" with their SAO double-headers, that really only did about the same or slightly better. Perhaps after the week of 4/13's "bumper" ratings, last week we were more or less back to normal with the exception of the 2 AM timeslot?
