While I want to make fun of Nier for being pretentious and only using philosophy to vaguely gesture at depth, BUT Anno did put the Christian imagery in Eva because it "looked cool," so.....

 

I dunno, might be the right fit, wrong reason.

It better just be a re-broadcast of the 1994 Evangelion but with two second Devola & Popola cameos in every episode. Then years later, you find out from a soon-to-be-defunct phone game that the two of them were orchestrating Instrumentality behind the scenes.

Bonus points if they accelerated it by doing silly things like telling Asuka that eyepatches are cool or telling Kaworu to take piano lessons. That way, the sisters can be the reason why the Rebuild movies happened too.
