Go off base to the small town there you got Kroger's, Food Lion...all this shit I didn't even know existed all still competing with entities like Walmart, and from what I remember they would do that shit with a fighting spirit...but that just sounds like capitalism in a way idk. I just observed while I was serving an active army term is why that's all I have to say about this. @discolé monade probably has something more meaningful to say on Georgia politics about this maybe? it's a food desert. that's why you see so many and $ generals and convience stores. and yes, capitalism. bigger/better chains stay out of places like this area. food lion/piggly wiggly kjs/ they know it's poor folk, so they make sure to keep pricing just as high as others. where that new store is opening in ATL, that area has a 14% food insecurity rate. this county has 11.3%, and GA has ave. of 10.7%. those numbers don't look impressive, but.we're talking 1in 7 people with 1 in 4 being children in the CSRA (region) Quote
