I think it was actually simultaneous. The OVAs of Gundam Unicorn came out in 2010 to 2014. The Re:0096 remix series came out in 2016.

Hope we get Sawano's awesomeness in Kyoto Arc and beyond!!

Not really because S2 ignores everything after sometime between episodes 16-17. Right after that night battle in the forest and trial and except Rin's sword doesn't break and we also haven't seen Rin's classmates' real reactions to learning he's the son of Satan yet which they saw for the first time during that battle.
