Suicide Squad Isekai drops new trailer because DC desperately wants to get the Suicide Squad over

Recommended Posts

This Harley is a massive improvement on that financial black hole that was the looter shooter at least.  No word on DeMarco wanting it.

Fun fact, the director doesn’t give a shit about Suicide Squad, but he took the job hoping he gets to do a Flash anime if this does well.

I hope he gets to do a Flash anime.

Hulu and Max.  Or Disney + and Max if you have the Hulu subscription.

No Adult Swim.

Well, they gotta hype up their Cable 2.0 bundle somehow. An anime based on a DC Comics team headlined by Harley Quinn and The Joker would be the thing to whet shareholders' whistles.

But the question remains: Dub or sub?

I doubt it.  Warner is probably handling it in-house.

Either that or they farm it out to Sentai Studios because they dislike unions THAT much. Real shame if it isn't SAG-AFTRA though, then we couldn't get Troy Baker as The Joker or John Cena reprising Peace Maker. Though, Roger Craig Smith did a very passable Cena when he took over Cena's role as Baron Draxxum in Rise of the TMNT season 2. That could work.

But I don't think we're seeing the dub on day 1. The market is more open to streaming things subtitled now.

No dub right away could possibly mean we can see it air later on

Either way between this and MeTV Toons, I’m reaching the apex of my existence that week

Would Toonami be bonkers enough to air a subtitled anime in mid-block on August 3rd if it's Suicide Squad?

Though unconfirmed, that just MIGHT be what this is pointing toward...

...and I for one would be perfectly FINE with it!

Subs anywhere but the last slot would be ratings suicide squad.

The OP looks good. Maybe the dubbed version premieres August 3rd or August 10th.

So maybe this:

Aug 3
11:30: Rickanime hour-long premiere
12:00: Suicide Squad Iseaki
01:00: One Piece hour
02:00 Naruto Shippuden
02:30: Rickanime hour-long premiere (SUBBED)
03:30: Suicide Squad Iseaki (SUBBED)
04:00: DBZ Kai
04:30: Ninja Kamui

Aug 10
11:30: Rickanime
12:00: Sucide Squad Iseaki
12:30: My Hero Academia
01:00: Demon Slayer
01:30: One Piece
02:00: Naruto Shippuden
02:30: Ninja Kamui
03:00: Rickanime (SUBBED)
03:30: Suicide Squad Iseaki (SUBBED)

And then in September, maybe move everything up so that it'd be 11:30-3:30. Come October, replace both top shows with Uzumaki and Kite Man: Hell Yeah, then Uzumaki's replaced by Get Jiro! and we can bring in Primal Season 3 in November............

Pretty good so far. It’s unfortunate they cheaped out on the dub and went with Sentai like Ninja Kamui. Also unfortunate that the dub is not available outside of Asia (legally) which makes no dang sense.

DeMarco’s name is in the producer credits  but that’s hardly a guarantee it will air on Toonami. WBD making the dub exclusive to Adult Swim also seems very unlikely.

They are saying summer for Rick, so I don’t see where SS fits in. If they start it on Aug 3 with a 2 episode premier, that has it ending exactly on Sept 28 which would allow Uzumaki (lol) to start in October. I suppose if Uzumaki is the vaporware we all assume it is at this point, SS can start in October and carry us to the end of the year. But would they keep the dub hidden away for that long? I don’t think so.

I guess if the summer report for Rick was incorrect, it could be the October show which is right around the time regular Rick starts a new season. I’d assume Rick would be getting over a month of promotion before premiering and we are real close to that. I don’t think it’s out of line to expect some kind of news tomorrow morning, but at the absolute latest if we don’t hear something by next Friday it’s going to look pretty unlikely that Rick starts Aug 3.

DeMarco being a producer and no dub lends credence to the idea that the show will be on Adult Swim with a next day Max airing.

Not to mention given Toonami's anemic lineup, it's the biggest possible get they have.

If neither MHA nor Swordsmith are August then they have plenty of room for both Rickanime and Suicedkai Squad but one of them has to double premiere to end by October. But I would be very surprised if WBD is letting Toonami premiere the dub outside of Asia. And if so, why the delay till August? There’s room as soon as Zom ends and the dub has at least 3 episodes finished now if not significantly more.

I don’t get the play here. If they are withholding the dub to premiere on TV, July is a perfect opportunity. This kind of stuff also annoys streaming audiences also

But I also don’t see why they would withhold the dub from English speaking NA

Really Bizarre

A double up on an original and a network property? I can’t see it. Especially since I expect them to give a disproportionate spotlight to Rick when it starts. SS would get completely overshadowed airing at the same time. Plus, they like to keep stuff like this as lead content, burning two at once means 9-10 weeks one of them didn’t get to be the lead show.

Not a smart play, the dub is already up on pirate sites, if people care about it, they have easy access to it.

If they are planning on airing it they should have it announced by now so people know what’s going on. There is no good reason to keep this secret.

Well they might have come to their senses. Unless this means the dub is 2 to 4 eps behind the sub here. My friend theorizes that they might have had trouble captioning the ED and that caused a delay.
