Urusei Yatsura (AKA Lum) gets a 2022 reboot

Forget who has the noitaminA rights.  Amazon of all people did for a bit but I have no clue now.

That’s crazy. Kinda surreal because Urusei Yatsura felt like an anime that was always going to be trapped in the 80’s. I got high hopes for it though because noitaminA is awesome and I got a soft spot for Rumiko Takahashi.

This is shaping up to be fairly ambitious, a four cour anime running for half a year, then taking a break before the second half.

Oh hell yea. I got HiDIVE a while ago but lately I have only been watching a handful of things on it. This will definitely give me something else to add to the list. I hope that they can pick up more good stuff but it could just remain a slow trickle for them. I don't know, just my opinion on them. I still pay the subscription haha

This looks pretty good!  I have to wonder if they're going to go for any setting update, so if they did I can't imagine it would matter too much.

Makes me think I may need to look into HiDIVE

First episode apparently hit today.  And yes it’s a period piece.  It’s also being described as a “best of” the manga rather than a 1/1 adaptation of every chapter.
